Aspyr Media has released a new patch for Sid Meier's Civilization V. 1.0.1.221a introduces a variety of new bug fixes and updates to the game. The patch does not include cross-platform multi-player games, but Aspyr confirmed it is working on the option for a future update.

The fifth edtion of the world building strategy series includes a redesigned game engine, new combat system, improved visuals, and the addition of ranged bombardment.

Hey there, Civ fanatics, good news! We know it’s been some time since our last patch release, but Aspyr is happy to announce that the latest patch (1.0.1.221a) for Civilization V Mac is ready, has been deployed, and should be automatically downloading for all of our Civ V fans within the next couple of hours.

One feature that many of you will probably notice is still conspicuously missing is cross-platform multiplayer. We considered holding onto the current patch a bit longer to ensure cross-platform multiplayer would be available, but since there is an upcoming PC patch that would quickly break cross-platform play (due to version incompatibilities), we have decided to release this patch rather than delay the patch further. That being said, we are still working very hard at ensuring cross-platform play becomes a reality, and we want to thank everyone for their patience.

If you're referring to the grey bar issues at that resolution, it was fixed a couple of patches ago.

I thought that 2560x1440 support was removed entirely due to some bugs a few patches ago, but I may be thinking of another game

Nah, you're still right.  We removed the option in a patch in December, but added it back in with the fix in the patch after that.
