I just found out that Portal 2 is now available for Pre-Load for when the game launches (for pre-orders via Steam only). You must select to do so via Steam. I just finished Portal a couple of weeks ago and am looking forward to part 2...

Peace!

Done, and done. Started the download yesterday, and finished it this morning. Close to 10 gigs. Yikes.

I still find this whole pre-loading concept quite odd. Sure, I get that it saves their servers from being hammered on release day - not to mention, I can jump in right away next Tuesday - but it makes me itch to play it now. Obviously the game is good and done if you let me download it a week in advance, so why not let me play it now? Grrr. Stupid retailers are probably to blame there.

Interestingly it requires 10.6.7.  (Downloaded a while ago, haven't installed yet.)

I'll definitely be getting the PS3 version, since you get a free PC/Mac copy with the purchase.

Apparently, if enough people play games from the Potato Sack, an 13 indie-game pack that has been on sale as a cross-promotion for Portal 2, the game will unlock early. I'd be interested to know whether it counts all play sessions or just an individual user.

It's too bad that only four of the games in the pack are available for Mac, but it may make me go back and try the Justine addition to Amnesia again. I didn't play that far in before as I'm still trying to figure out how to save the first person - managed to build lots of box piles to look for a key/tool in the oddest places. Also, I may just finally snap up Toki Tori. The others I already have. The Killing Floor Aperture level is quite nice actually. Beat the Bit.Trip Beat level two days ago, but with a lousy score, so I may revisit that one again as well.

Apparently it has recieved a 94% review score and editors choice award from PC Gamer. The naysayers present can have fun not playing it while I have fun playing it as soon as it's activated.

The game is $35 on Amazon. Day-of-release delivery with Prime.

I was going to wait on it considering Valve games are always on sale, and I have a zillion things to play, but I couldn't pass it up at that price.
