The Fish Dies in the End has just been re-released. And best of all, it's now permanently free-to-play! The original game has been released about 1 year ago and has now received a huge update with many new additions and modifications to the gameplay.

The Fish Dies in the End is an endless game with simple controls, nice cartoonish 2D graphics, many different enemies and obstacles to avoid, multiple cosmetic themes and styles to try, several power-ups, and much more. The game has Game Center integration with Leaderboards for each of the 3 difficulty levels and 25+ achievements.

The idea for making the game F2P came a few months ago when we had a special promotion with the brazilian version of the game that was made free for a few days and quickly became the #1 app in the BR App Store with more than 70.000 downloads in less than a week. This seemed like the best way to bring new players to the game, so we immediately started working to release this improved version that you're able to play now. We hope that our friends worldwide can try it and have fun!

If you have any comments, suggestions or criticisms please feel free to talk! I'm always willing to discuss the game and, since all of the updates made so far have been created with the players' suggestions in mind, you might be helping to shape the future versions.

More diverse fish in the background. A few sharks, whales, an octopus once in a while for instance? I would also add some sea bed in the background that scrolls slowly by, to make it more interesting to look at. You could at sea weed, rocks, crabs on the floor, etc. etc, all siluetted.

Hey, thanks for your comment! :)

We purposefully designed the background to be really simple so that it wouldn't interfere in any way with the user experience when playing the game. I do like your ideas though and I agree that maybe some more details would be nice. I'll try to do it on a future update, keep posted!

Maybe some minor different overlays to the sharks, so they don't look exactly the same each time.

You could have the bottom of a boat slowly sailing through the top, as some kind of giant obstacle.

Let the poor guy fight back.  Equip him with a full auto speargun, a thermonuclear harpoon cannon, and a rack of JDAM torpedoes.  If he's gotta die in the end then let him take some fish along with him, so give him a dynamite suicide vest too.  When the end looms near, all he has to do is take his cold dead fin off of the deadman's switch.  And if it's not too much trouble make everything holographic, in technicolor and surround sound.   ;)

@Thain Esh Kelch: We have some coral reefs that might serve the same purpose. Check it out (click to enlarge):

@the Battle Cat: Right at the beginning of development I actually had a power-up that gave the fish the temporary ability to shoot "bullets" :P. I decided to remove it after some time because it took away one of the primary features of the game IMO which are the one-touch controls. I could make the bullets shoot automatically but then the game would just be too easy :). It also wasn't fun to play, really. I like the simplicity of just trying to survive! It might still happen in a future update though if I manage to find a way to do it without hurting the overall theme of the game.

Give him a shark-powerup so he can eat anything, and speed up the game at the same time - Points for eating as many fish as possible in 10 seconds..   :P

I have tropical fish.  All I really ask is that you don't have him play "Patooie"  That's where one fish poops and another tries it out for lunch but immediately patooies it out for another fish to sample.

The Fish Dies in the End now has a release date: April 13th! Are you guys ready for some fish-dying action???

This thread has been fantastic. Some great suggestions (and lots of laughs as well ;) ) and it isn't too late to give me more feedback about the game. I'm planning more updates after the release and I assure you that every feedback will be considered and any suggestions might make their way to the game in the near future. So, if you have any suggestions, comments or criticisms, don't be shy! Please say it ;).

By the way, is it possible to edit my original post with this information? Thanks!

I've added you to the Developers Group.  You will be able to edit all your own posts now.  I'll PM you more details.  Wish you had a company name, "The Fish Dies in the End" seems to be the only title you have on your website.

That's great, thanks a lot! I don't really have a company :(. The Fish Dies in the End looks pretty well there anyway :P.

It's nice to know that if I ever decide to open a company I'll be able to use your advice regarding the name :P . I really like the name "Dead Fish" because it's also the name of one of my favorite bands here in Brazil! But your suggestion is great as well, Thain Esh Kelch :D .
