First off, it runs, with all options maxed, really well on my system. When launching you're prompted to log in to your Ubisoft account. Oddly enough, my six-character alphanumeric, minimum requirement password simply wasn't getting me in... after a few tries I went to Ubi's website, logged in to my account using my WORKING password and created a more complex one- this got me in the game when I went back to it. The game launches fine, the initial little window has a little sprocket icon in the upper right- click it for the option to sync your saved game with Ubisoft's server- it is ON by default, turning it off launches and quits the game slightly faster and I see no need for the sync- unless you Bootcamp the game I guess.

The graphics seem to default to medium and, for some reason, there's no option to select my screen's native resolution (1680x1050 although selecting the 16:10 ratio is there) so I decided to play the game, quit it, hunt for the *.ini file (~/Library/Application Support/Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction/) and change it- that works fine and looks a lot better- the highest resolution I could see selectable in-game is 1280x800- why!? I also have a Razer DeathAdder so I had to turn down the sensitivity to about 1/4 of default to have it playable.

I only played for about twenty minutes but the game's very fluid and engrossing so far... more later- gotta get my butt to work! Peace! If there's a thread for this already someplace, sorry...

Just finished downloading from Mac Game Store and played through the tutorial to the first real level. I could select 1680 x 1050 in the menus (Mac Pro 2009 with 5870, 10.6.7). The installer did allow installation on a different drive to OS X although it created library and application folders there so I trashed all those and everything else except the the actual .app for my games folder. On first click it bounced and disappeared but on the second go I got the box asking for the serial number and then it ran fine. I'm assuming the fact I've gone Assassins Creed 2 installed made it simpler.

Looks to be a good game so far - shame the DRM is so annoying. Even with a good permanent wired internet connection I still got the waiting for server or quit dialogue part way through the intro movie. Check on launch or if your that paranoid check before a level or something - not all the time during play Ubisoft guys :(

Interestingly it looks like Assassins creed is on the Mac Appstore now so I assume this kind of DRM isn't allowed there - how about giving the rest of us the same Ubi?

It better run on that beast! If you boot camped it you would run like 300fps at those settings.

Where is AC Brotherhood? Ubi is quiet on that topic.

I pre-ordered it a few weeks ago... I got the email to download along with my registration number so I downloaded it, installed it and started playing it... I'm not going to wait for the official date, you?

Well, I had all sorts of funky things happen to me. First time I tried to run it, the launcher would not go behind the program window. But after restarting the computer, it worked. But the game locked up. It then would not start again. I had to uninstall it and resinstall it again! Finally it worked. So I played for a few hours and quit. Next time I wanted to start it up, it did not work. I had to reinstall it again! And every time I quit it since then, I have to uninstall it and reinstall it to play again.

Luckily, I've been syncing to the server, so I pick up right where I left off. And luckily, my Mac pro is a beast with SSD for a boot drive, so it's pretty fast installing it again. But since SSDs don't like writing so much, I have the game installed on a second drive where all my users account is anyway. It runs fine, except for the highlights in the hair are blown out really bad. But it's fun and I'm glad I bought it. It's just a pain to reinstall it every time I want to use it.

I have an incident in with UBI and we'll see what they say. They responded with a request for me to upload my system profile. We'll see what happens.

I know my Mac pro is supported. 10.6.7, dual 2.8 GHz processors, 12 gigs of RAM, 240 Gig OCZ vertex 2 boot drive, 2TB user drive, 23" Cinema display with an 8800GT graphics card. Not sure why the game refuses to start up every single time I quit it. (And I use the game's controls to quit.)

But then UBI has a bit of a reputation for buggy software at release time. Well, it just finished installing again for another session. Sam Fisher is off to shoot some bad guys. :-)

I've a similar setup to you with an SSD for boot and a hard disk for my games. It would take two goes to launch and I found in the console it was looking for the wrong path to the app. I edited a text file on the boot drive to change the path - I think it worked

I just finished this game today. It was really good.

Here is the review I posted on D2D.
