I found this:

It looks pretty cool and can be had pretty cheaply.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts/recommendations,
Jim

Really, without drivers? I remember connecting my PS3 Sixaxis Controller using TattieBogle's driver.
It wasn't working without it. Maybe Apple changed something in the OS. Have to check it out later.

First thing to do is make sure you have the following items and software ready before you begin.
* 10.6 or better (10.5 is **NOT** supported)
* No PS3 Gamepad driver software installed (uninstall any Tattieboggle PS3 stuff)
* PS3 Gamepad
* USB charging cable for PS3 gamepad
* Bluetooth enabled on your Mac
Once you are ready please download and watch the video below it will take you through all the steps you need to take to connect your PS3 Gamepad to your Macintosh computer.

I still use an original Xbox pad occasionally with a USB adaptor and the XBOX HID control panel., works well for driving games, pretend your playing Halo on an Xbox etc.

Watch the video carefully
You hold down the button for the specified time then PULL OUT THE USB CABLE. It will then appear on your Bluetooth list. Oh and make sure your PS3 is completely off and unplugged (not sleeping) before you start this!

It will then appear on your Bluetooth list. NO

the four lights flicker and nothing happens
i tested this for 3 seconds; 5 seconds, 10 seconds etc. but nothing happens.
EDIT: edwin you are right, IT WORKS, yesterday the battery was perhaps a bit to low... BUT With TR-Anniversary the Fire Button does not work, fire is on the digital-pad, not on the "normal" buttons.

Yeah due to the funky way the PS3 pad works (every button has TWO sets of inputs digital and analogue) this will need to be fixed in the next patch.
