Hey guys,

didn't really know where to post this but I thought 'general' would be most convenient. Apologies if this is the wrong place.

My question is, does anyone know any decent ( and cheap) software that will allow me to record games that I play on my mac?

I need something that records smooth video and records audio. I am thinking of starting a youtube channel dedicated to game blogs.

All answers appreciated.

Thanks.

I use Snapz Pro and ScreenFlow depending on what I need done, but both of those are more expensive, but great programs.

QuickTimeX does it for free in Snow Leopard don't know about the performance overhead in games but you could give it a try.

I think QTX does not record sound.

I use iShowU ($20).
Apparently iShowU HD gives even better performance though ($30).

Hmm I've actually got iShowU HD - I'll test out a little gameplay recording this weekend. What type of games did you want to record Melismatic ?

Currently, mine craft.

I would love to do a running commentary on that. Thanks

True (no audio is recorded but you can use audio recording for free in QTX as well. It does mean you would have to sync the audio afterwards which can be a pain.

Not sure I'm familiar with that one :) Looking at a youtube vid I've got some idea so I'll see if I can record something similar gameplaywise. Although that won't be until next weekend now as it's financial year end at work and I'm working crazy hours atm.
