I've have myself back into gaming lately through Steam (mostly L4D2) but I was looking for a suggestion of what games are out there that might be similar to Ghost Recon? I loved the game back when I had an Xbox then I found it to get away from it's original online community playing for a newer style of play. I may pickup CounterStrike Source through Steam later on but from what I'm told by a friend it's not the same as each game is only a few mins at a  time. I was looking for something like GR where the level could be 10 mins as the goal was to get to one spot in the level that was being protected by the other team.

Anyways, any suggestions of a game that may sound familiar that I could pickup for the Mac?

Thanks,

I believe Battlefield 2142 battles are usually more protracted than those of CSS. Although BF2142 is a Cider port so performance isn't exactly up there. There's also the various Call of Duty from Aspyr although we're only up to the original Modern Warfare.

I believe Brothers in Arms Double Time from Feral also has multiplayer although I don't have any experience with it. A quick glance over a PC review shows it's objective based usually one side delivering something to a location with the other side defending. It's supposed to be 2-4 players with each player commanding a squad. This sounds pretty close to what you liked about Ghost Recon. Maybe edddeduck or someone else from Feral could comment? I'm not sure if the Mac port has cross-platform multiplayer so I'm not sure how busy the matches will be.

If you can find a used copy, maybe; Close Combat: First to Fight. Multiplayer hosting has been discontinued- direct IP still probably works, though. Good single-player. You're point man of a squad of 4 Marines.
