So as I am debating about purchasing this game, I stumbled onto this:

http://dragonage.bio...order-ultimate/

It seems to have all the expansions, DLC, and additions in one neat little box.  They also have indications that this will come out for Mac sometime soon.  When I listened to their podcast, the Bioware team was very adamant that it will be for all platforms and the Mac version will be coming very soon.  Has anyone else heard about this?

Also, there is still no sign of a true box version for Mac, is there?

It is supposedly coming, but I just bought the PC version. It's on Steam, it runs better, and there's no cider.

No, there is no boxed version.

I haven't heard anything about a Mac version of the Ultimate Edition. Should it come, it will only be downloadable from Transgaming. EA obviously does not care enough to simply put the Mac version together with the Mac version on a hybrid disc – which would be perfectly possible.

I'm tempted, but I'd really rather purchase this as from Steam where I will have the option of playing the PC version as well.  Since they are the same content at the same price, what are the chances we'll see a Steam version soon?

Slim. Steam won't allow multiple versions of games and publishers don't want to share profits with porting houses sometimes.

Just finished downloading this. Crikey, what an enormous download. With all the expansions and DLC and so on, it's like 50 G or something. Nuts! Also, I had to sign up for an EA Online account to get it to finish downloading all the DLC. Which I will never use (the account, that is). Anyway, looking forward to playing it as soon as I finish some major schoolwork catching-up.

Since the game uses the account to authenticate the DLC, I'd wager that you will use it... ;)

I mean I won't use it beyond that... like for all the "making new friends" and "playing games together" crap. Whatever I need to do to get the game up and running, that's it.

That makes sense, of course.

What's the DRM scheme on Gametree?  Is it one of those limited install deals?  Or is it like Steam where I can download it as many times as I want to as many machines as I want?  If the former, I'd rather go with the PC version from Steam in a Wineskin wrapper.

You get to download a game within a window of a few days, so make sure to make a backup since you won't be able to redownload. As for installation limits it depends on the game. In Dragon Age's case, EA will let you authorize 5 Macs to play it on, and you can deauthorize at will. Other games may limit you to as few as 3 installations, and, again depending on the game, you may be able to have all of them reinstated by contacting Gametree.

Is it just me or does this have the most annoying installer ever? I can't get the third part of it (the one for the DLC) to log in to my EA account. I can log in on the web just fine. Am I meant to be giving it the email address I use to log in, or the "EA ID"?

Actually, they claim you can re-download purchased games as many times as you like. The link in the email does expire after a few days, but you can get a new link by logging into their web site.

Turns out the installer (but not the web site) decided that my (valid, working) email address was invalid. Transgaming and EA are as competent as ever, I see…

So now I'm getting horrible cursor lag. As in, every couple of seconds, the mouse cursor position just stops updating for a second or so. Anyone know how to fix that?

Turns out the website doesn't recognize 4 out of 8 of my saved characters, and now the ONLY way to play the game is by disconnecting from the internet. nice DRM, guys! I'll bet it slows down pirates as effectively as a manatee slows down an oil tanker!

Just wanted point that the Mac Ultimate version is also on Gamersgate but uk (http://www.gamersgate.co.uk/).

It's just a different option but for people like me that tend lost digital files because of some mysterious reasons, this could be a more handy version.
An account with the uk site is the same account than on the main site, so if you check your games list of the account to download or re download them you get the games bought on both sites.

Here a direct link because the site seems quite wrong with the search:

I saw this too.  Thinking about picking it up for my 2010 Macbook Air 11" Ultimate.  Looks like I meet system requirements, but I've read so many conflicting reports about performance on this computer.

Can anyone chip in and tell their experience playing this on the MBA?  Is it worth buying this game or will it be a slide show?

It's a slide show on much more powerful machines. Might run decent in low under Windows though.
