Radeon HD 5870 still shown as "Currently Unavailable" status on Apple Store but let me place an order anyway last week. I received an order confirmation yesterday with a projected delivery date of December 23rd.

If you have been waiting to order one, give it a shot.

(I'm not posting this on MacRumors Forums or Apple Discussions so you guys can get first crack.)

Finally!!! I ordered mine since my Nvidia 8800 GT has been on a monthly bake schedule to bring it back to life since april ;-( I've sent emails to Apple, ATI and Nvidia to get the newest cards out for MacPro I know would I buy, crap I even offered my money to develop if they are so worried about money. But I guess apple, ati, nvidia don't care much. I guess my next mac will be a hackintosh if things don't change or something.  Seems like Apple still shows up at the game track to look good but doesn't take part because there isn't much under the hood.

Trust me I know what I'm talking about I still have my Power Mac 7200/90 haha Also long time gamer on the macintosh. I've survived many LAN parties at the mercy of the Windows users, well wasn't that bad after I fragged them a few times ;-)

Also how many people out there had their Mac Nvidia 8800 GT die or needs to be reborn monthly?

Sorry about the rant lol
aka hackintosh

In case anyone happens to be having a hard time finding it:

ATI Radeon HD 5870 Graphics Upgrade Kit for Mac Pro

Now I'm wondering if I should purchase a W3580 3.33GHz (available for around $600 on eBay right now) to replace my W3520 2.66GHz or get this [first]! Which would give me more bang for my gaming buck!? Off to Google again...

I have to agree with the others get the GPU since i have the same processor as you and it barely goes to 50% in most games only HandBrake has been able to bring it to max so far :P
