Not too long ago, we have released a free game for Mac, Linux and Windows - Steel Storm Episode I.
It's a top down old school arcade shooter with single-player campaign and multi-player modes.
The game can be downloaded from http://www.steel-storm.com
For Coop and Deathmatch gaming, we have 6 servers running, 2 in US and 4 in EU.
Get it, give it a try and if you like it - please spread the word, we are not getting any coverage for Mac gamers and we tried to have the game running smoothly on Mac for you.
Thank you.
Steel Storm Episode I free Mac game is out!

I downloaded it but it didn't run. I tried running the binary manually from the shell, which resulted in many errors and a black screen with some red and white colored blocks, which I had to force-quit out of (Command-Q didn't do anything). As far as the packaging goes, zipping the .dmg results in an extra step...what you want to do is use a compressed .dmg, and just distribute that, so users don't have to unzip it.

Thank you for the report. Is there any way you could pastebin all the output in the shell? This is a first report actually. Also, could you please specify specs of your Mac? (CPU, video card, RAM, OSX version. Would it be a problem for Mac gamers to have the game shipped as .zip file, not .dmg? We have third party making .dmg files and we have no control of what they do :/

Actually it looks like I should have been running the "steelstorm-osx-sdl" file, rather than "steelstorm-osx-sdl-bin". In this case I get the message "*error: arch takes no arguments", which is also what shows up in the console when trying to run by the icon. Sounds like an OS version issue, since "arch" in 10.4 at least indeed has no arguments.

G5, X800, 3GB, 10.4.11.

A nice .dmg is ideal, but maybe .zip would be better in this case, as the .dmg is kind of substandard I'm afraid.

There is an issue with SDL framework currently (on the engine's end). That's the only reason we have shell script (steelstorm-osx-sdl). When the game is run on OSX 10.5 and 10.6, it works fine. It's a hacky workaround, but currently there is no other way around resolving SDL issue, because engine team are not very Mac proficient and the main engine person has no Mac
