Nice, though I'd have gone with the iPhone form factor for the iTouch - square just seems sexier to me. Also, that way they might not have had to kneecap the camera.

Also, touch-screen Nano seems... odd. I don't know if I'd get rid of the camera for something like that. Nifty that it's small, but hell, the Nano was already.

I think that the clip on the nano makes it a lot better. The clip, although so simple, is the thing I loved dearly about the shuffle vs all other ipods.

The new nano is sweet. Okay, it lost a feature (the camera) but it gained a pretty cool one with the touch screen. I guess it's only a matter of time till we see third-party apps for it (although I assume it will have to be jailbroken).

The "new" shuffle strikes me as odd - since it's a return to the model before the last one. Seems that whole "no buttons" thing didn't work out too well.

The new touch is basically all that I expected: Retina display, A4 CPU, FaceTime enabled, front- and backfacing cameras. That the backfacing camera is not on par with the iPhone 4 camera is only understandable, not only from the form factor point of view: there simply has to be some larger difference between a smartphone and a high end media player to justify the price difference.

Though it hasn't been mentioned yet, I think we could also talk about the new Apple TV. Cute little thing, but I'm not sure whether the complete reliance on streaming media will turn out so well. There's just too much that I could imagine to go wrong. Also the complete lack of 1080p support is somewhat disappointing.

Yeah, the iTouch HD Camera is only really usable for Video (960 x 720)
Still Pictures are the same size.

Well you can´t have everything, esp for just $229 for 8GB.
X-mas is coming early this year :D
hey, don´t worry - it´s only red pixels on your hands...

Oh... now, that you mention it, that's indeed the case. But then again, would make video playback on a 3x3 cm display make sense?

Here in my house we use an apple tv upstairs to stream 720p avi\m4v with AC3 files from a couple of NAS boxes and it works very well with the 32 inch 720p it's attached to. So for us having it be streaming only isn't such a big deal. However before we would upgrade to the new Apple TV it'd need xvid\divx support added and other software we have on our current apple tv included in atvflash (sapphire in particular).

I see the potential problems less within the home network but more for the streaming directly from the internet (which the AppleTV is supposed to do when you rent movies on it directly). The server might be overburdened, your ISP might have a bad day, some idiot tripped over a cable or, while less likely but still possible, some interference messes up your wifi - and goodbye relaxed evening with a HD movie. Of course, your mileage may vary, but let's just say I haven't had good experiences with streaming media from the internet in the past.

I've just bought a silver shuffle to accompany me to the gym (trying to get fit after a health check said I had the metabolism of a man 15 years my senior ...) and it's really convenient :) My first iPod!

I honestly think that the iPod Shuffle and iPod Nano serve an emotional function inside of Apple.
Wow, this is word for word what someone by the name of "Andy Ihnatko" wrote in an article for the Chicago Sun Times.
