In a recent financial press release Ubisoft revealed that Assassin's Creed 2 and Splinter Cell: Conviction would both be making their way to Mac users. AC2 puts players in the role of assassin Ezio in the time of the Italian Renaissance, while SC:C returns players to the role of Sam Fisher on a mission to uncover his past and prevent a terrorist plot.

Assassin's Creed 2:
Get ready to plunge into the lush and deadly world of the Italian Renaissance, an era of arts, riches and murderous conspiracy. Assassin's Creed II introduces you to Ezio, a new assassin carrying on the deadly lineage of his forebears. Confront an epic tale of power and corruption as you hone your assassin's art, wielding weapons and instruments designed by the legendary Leonardo da Vinci himself in this gripping and deadly sequel.

Key Game Features:
  • Explore the deadly, shadowed world of the assassin with new assassin Ezio
  • Roam freely through the lush and dangerous world of Renaissance-era Italy
  • Do whatever it takes to complete your missions in the game's all-new open world and mission structure
  • Thrive in an environment rich with power, revenge and conspiracy
  • Practice your assassin's art with all-new weapons and instruments created by Leonardo da Vinci
Splinter Cell: Conviction
A few years have passed since the cliff hanger conclusion of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent, in which Agent Sam Fisher undertook a particularly dirty mission, full of questionable actions, in the shadow of the inexplicable and unmourned death of his daughter. Fisher is now a renegade operative digging into the events of the past and he doesn't like what he has found. His personal investigation into his daughter's death reveals that he's been betrayed by his former agency, the Third Echelon. The agency responds by pursuing him, but as he works to elude them he becomes aware of a deadly terrorist plot that threatens millions. He is uniquely positioned and prepared to act against this, but success is doubtful without the help of former friends from the Third Echelon team, resulting in a series of life and death situations for himself and the country where trust can by no means be assumed.

Gameplay:
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction, as with all games in the Splinter Cell series, is a tactical stealth-action game. In single player modes players take on the role of Sam Fisher and engage in a series of missions utilizing high-tech weaponry, gadgets, lethal hand-to-hand combat and interrogation skills. Overall objectives and the necessary steps to achieve them are challenging, yet always clear via dual verbal and visual expression that seamlessly alerts players as they progress through missions. In addition, Conviction enhances the world of stealth combat that has made the Splinter Cell franchise a runaway hit for years through a series of revolutionary new gameplay features.
Both titles are scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2010, meaning gamers will have the chance to experience both titles before the end of September.

Hm... I found this already odd when another games site reported this, because I cannot find anything about a release of SCC and AC2 for Mac in this press release:

Quote

UBISOFT® REPORTS FINAL SALES FIGURES FOR THE FIRST QUARTER 2010-11
 Sales for the first quarter at €161 million.
Paris, 22 July 2010 – Today, Ubisoft reported its final sales figures for the fiscal first quarter ending June 30, 2010.

Sales

Sales for the first quarter totaled €161 million, up 94%, or up 81% at constant exchange rates, compared with the €83 million recorded for the first quarter 2009-10.

As announced on July 12th, sales for the first-quarter of 2010-11 exceeded the guidance (of approximately €145 million) announced at the time of the 2009-10 full-year earnings communication. This is due to:

- the solid performance of Splinter Cell Conviction™, which sold in 1.9 million units,

- a good performance by back-catalog and casual titles, spurred by the sustained sales of Just Dance®, as well as Assassin’s Creed® 2 and Avatar,

- a favorable exchange rate impact.

Outlook

Second quarter 2010-11 sales targets
The second quarter will be highlighted by the releases of:
- H.A.W.X.® 2 for Xbox 360®, Playstation® 3 and PC
- R.U.S.E™ for Xbox 360®, Playstation® 3, MOVE and PC
- Racquet Sports for MOVE

As announced on July 12th, sales for the second quarter of 2010-11 are expected to come in at around €83 million, in-line with the second quarter of 2009-10.

Full-year 2010-11
Ubisoft confirms its previous forecast for the full year 2010-11 of an expected return to profitable growth and positive cash flow from operating activities.

Unless Ubisoft has changed their minds, their games have the worst (depending on who you ask) DRM ever: you have to have a constant Internet connection to their servers to play. Even a single-player game.

They haven't. Unfortunately Splinter Cell is very attractive to me... (read: *dr00l*)

You have to download the PDF version. At the end of it is a release list for the various platforms, including those two titles for Mac.
