Sargiel's post reminded me...I'll be running this on Windows.  Hadn't thought about the idea of whether cross-platform PBEM works, but it sounds like it does?
A very good question.  I suppose we'll find out! =]

If it doesn't I'll slap an Apple sticker on the case and just confuse this PC into performing.  :P

Yep as I mentioned earlier my friend is running Civ 4 on windows and we've had no issues besides me not remembering about that BtS patch :D Once that was installed all was good. You shouldn't have any problems.

I believe the patch is also on the BTS disk to bring the core Civ 4 game up to its latest version.

It seems that we've hit a technical snag.  Dojoboy sent me a copy of his saved game after he reported that opening it with the DVD based version of Civ4:bts resulted in a crash to desktop.  I was able to open it with my steam version.  I installed the disc version, ran the update and I too saw the game crash to desktop upon loading the save.  I fired off a support email to Aspyr for clarification.  In the meantime, what versions of the game do you all have.  Do you all have the DVD version of the game?  How about steam?  Hopefully Aspyr will provide us with a workaround.

How odd. I have the Steam version installed, but I could dig out my discs if necessary.

Only steam here. 10$ for the complete edition was too good to pass.

Have Aspyr reported back? Also, if I understand this correctly - Only Steam guys or only disc-version-guys will be able to play?

That would really be strange. I haven't experienced any problems with loading my single player saved games from the disc version with the Steam version. Something's amiss here.

Can I purchase BtS only on Steam to run with my DVD install of Civ4?

Is it still cheap?  I'll go check.

I'm pretty sure someone else already answered "no" to the disc/steam combo. The sale was only on two days. First was near the start of a week long sale they were having, second was the last day of the sale, which was an encore of their top selling games. Keep your eyes peeled, something tells me that this sale will come around again soon.

Aspyr has not yet replied to my support request.  I'm hoping that I'll hear back soon.  I'm quite willing to wait, but if the group consensus is to go on, let me know.

Personally if I was in a big hurry I wouldn't have joined this game in the first place.  ;) No worries about taking the time to make it work for everybody.

I have to agree... I expect this game to take around a year, at least, so... :P

No worries. Conquering the world is really not for the impatient, so I guess we can wait.

I'm back off my holiday now - was this issue resolved ? I had the same issue with opening the save immediately crashing to the desktop. Note that I'm not on Steam but have all the Boxed releases fully patched etc.

No reply yet from Aspyr.  Maybe it would light a fire under them if we all submitted support requests? =]  http://support.aspyr...dex.php/contact
