I signed up on the 28th and haven't heard back. I guess they're probably done selecting beta testers by now given that they're aiming to release this month. Ah well.

I signed up a day after you, never heard anything either. I'm curious if anyone here who signed up for the beta heard back from Valve yet? April's only 1/3rd over, and it seems that when a dev announces something for a month, it always leans towards the end of it. Of course maybe that's just my wishful thinking.

At MacRumors Rob Barris said that they will be inviting people:

We'll be drawing from the pool of submissions to populate the beta, in order to generate a useful amount of testing / exercise for all the new code. Probably won't let every single person in at the same time though.

It's Valve. They'll change the expected date to "Spring or early Summer" on April 30th, people will get their beta invites mid May, and they'll release the thing on June 20th at 11:48 PM PST.

In fairness, that does apply to about 99% of all software development....

Well yes and no.
Valve are notorious for announcing something for a certain D&T and then taking an extra week. Other developers might hold off announcing that a patch is to be released until it's actually released. Basically Valve use their internal time scale and generalise things when they're talking to their fan base and then things take longer than they predicted.

It's exactly this kind of thing that Feral used to do several years back, whilst now they only announce a product's release when they're 99% sure of hitting that release date.

I have never let slip any game title I have ever been under NDA testing, even after it's over. Thee have been assumptions made around here regarding one or two specific titles (I.e., Rome Total War) that I have not categorically denied, but even then I don't think I ever confirmed that. The only way to settle this affront to my person ethics is a duel. You can fight tBC while I continue testing

There's a "new" Steam Beta for Windows going on right now. Something makes me think that maybe when that's done or tested or what have you the Mac one would start. Or you would think they would just include Mac users in it, but who knows why not. I'm going to test out the Windows one for now.

I just checked the steam site again (http://store.steampowered.com/macbeta/) and they have now closed the mac beta. This must have been done in the last week as I believe I checked it late last week. I guess this means we'll start hearing about invites soon.
