Blizzard Entertainment recently revealed that the long delayed patch for Diablo II has once again entered beta testing on the public test realms. Version 1.13b will introduce a variety of bug fixes and updates as well as respecialization options, and a new mystery to be solved by players of Hell difficulty.

Major Bugs:
  • Fixed an item dupe bug.
  • Video improvements for Intel Mac machines with OS 10.5 or greater.
  • Fixed an issue where some players could kill other players while in town ("TPPK").
  • Fixed an issue where some players could disconnect other players when they had too many active states.
  • Fixed two issues where players could stack auras in an unintended way.

Specific changes/improvements:
  • Respecialization is now possible! Completing the 'Den of Evil' quest will now additionally reward 1 free respec which can be saved. Players who have already completed this quest should receive 1 free respec in Hell difficulty.
  • Increased the drop rate of high runes.
  • Support for blit scaling in windowed mode. The game can now be maximized to the largest 4:3 resolution supported (hooray widescreen users).
  • Some rare drop items now have an orange color. i.e. Runes and items required for Uber Tristam.
  • Modified the gold bank limit to be a flat cap not bound by level.
  • Removed the requirements to create a hardcore character.
  • Greatly reduced the explosion damage dealt by Fire Enchanted monsters.

I just read the entire list.  Although they seemed to change character skills to make the characters more powerful (which wasn't necessary), they didn't seem to fix the Amazon bow AR or "Fend" bugs, the Barbarian Leap skills bugs, the (open) closed doors  bug, the Inferno/ArcticBlast bugs, the Charge bug, the getting stuck in open graves bug, and probably the excessive poison damage from certain monsters bug.  They did fix the Blessed Hammer bug, but that was one I wouldn't have minded keeping!

Changing the Blood Golem takes away a lot of flavor and fun.  So does getting rid of the "win the game" requirement to create Hardcore characters, although maybe they thought that everyone in the world has won the game at least once, now.

I hope the money cap is really high, since they no longer raise it.  And where is the expanded stash we were promised?

I really wish they would just fix the bugs that people have been telling them about since the beginning instead of "balancing" the character skills.

And the screen bugs they mentioned, I don't ever recall having a problem with--I hope the fixes weren't something done for Windows that will mess up the Mac version.

Also, there is no mention of whether the system requirements have changed.  I hope not.  I am still using OS X 10.3.9 on a Power Mac G4

Considering the ten years since its release... I don't think another developer has a better support record, especially for a Mac version.
macOS 10.14.x/Windows 7 Pro/2009 MacPro 4,1 Xeon W3580 3.33GHz/16GB RAM/EVGA GTX1070 8GB (testing a Vega 56)

Agreed.  Also, for adding content and expanding gameplay through the free patches.  But it is true that there are serious bugs that have been reported since the beginning that they have ignored.
