Well I'm glad that we're finally getting down to brass tacks, fifteen months after the original post!

Also, are we pronouncing it with the American "steen" or more authentic "Sh-tie-n"

That trailer was good but I'm still a little fuzzy as to whether it's still coming natively to the Mac or not... and furthermore who knows if it'll be steamplay or not. Although that probably doesn't matter if you are just intending on playing it in Windows or on a PC. I've heard it's going to use Games For Windows Live in the Windows version as well.

My plans for buying this game aren't solidified yet. Hah, I loved saying that.. it turns that quote against them.

I checked it out. It doesn't seem very inspired. Skyscraper ruins. Biped monsters. Guns. Krull.

The tech is obviously there, but none of the content stands out for me.

Yeah I played it yesterday and the driving part was the worst driving I ever played in a game!

Oh wait...

BTW I haven't read anything to the effect of it not being good by anyone who has previewed\done a hands on of the game.

the graphics and universe look really good, but I'm not enthused about the gameplay. It looks like the kind of game where the killing are not rewarding, and on the contrary, I'd be pissed each time I see an enemy "here we go again, I'm gonna waste another clip on this one".
I don't know why some particular game have such effect on me. Doom 1 and 2 were cool (possibly because they were the first fps I played), but monsters in quake became quite annoying. Same for doom 3, but not in HL2.
I think it's due to the number of hits required to kill a guy, and to the variety of fights. In hl2, each fight is a little story on its own. You kill metrocops that are after you, or you kill prison guards trying to rescue Ely, snipers, zombies, antlions...All this naturally integrate in the story. And you don't need a full clip to take down a friking zombie.
In Doom 3, you spend the whole game shooting monsters that jump on you in corridors, for whatever reason. What I've seen of rage so far doesn't look any better, gameplay-wise. There was this XB0X demo where Tim Willits would spend 10 min walking thought corridors and shooting the same kind of bad guys jumping on him every 20 sec or so. Each one would require 4-5 shotgun hits, even though they weren't wearing armors. It looked awfully repetitive and boring.
It really boils down to you scoring point for each guy you kill, like that iPhone game they made.

I found that it was actually more efficient to take down unarmed former human zombies with a couple of flashlight hits rather than try to shoot them with the pistol. The pistol was mainly efficient for killing spiders..... and that's pretty much the crux of it.. you have to use the right weapon on the right monster in there. When you do that you might find you actually have more than enough ammo.

This trailer indeed looks better than the gameplay demo I saw.
I mentioned the iPhone game for the monotony of the killings, even if it can take only one bullet to shoot down an enemy.
Doom 3 was kind of like that, worsen by the shi**y shotgun that couldn't take down an imp that was 2 feet away in a single shot.
I guess I'm just not a hardcore fps player after all. I'm more interested in the storyline and in exploring the area  than in continuously fighting enemies. Killing can be rewarding yes, but not if you spend 90% of the time shooting the same kind of monsters. HL2 had a very good balance between fights, exploration, storyline (without any cumbersome assigned objective on your HUD).
Doom 3, OTOH, was quite boring. I swear I literally wanted to kill those imps that appear behind you back every 10 meters. Go away you f*cking monster, I want to move FORWARD.
Hoping that  Rage will be more mature.

Still sad to not see the Mac logo at the end, though...

On the other hand not seeing a logo for a certain platform at the end doesn't mean it's not coming to that platform. Like for a recent example... Prey 2 doesn't have a PC or GFW logo in it's latest trailer yet I was told by them (Human Head) on their Prey 2 Facebook page that it is coming to PC. There's also this other thing where quite a few trailers for E3 only mention certain platforms because of where they are being played and their tendency to be console oriented in that trade-show.
