Inside Mac Games has posted a review of the indie-developed adventure game Machinarium, from Amanita Design. In the game, you play a robot on a brave journey to find his counterpart. Along the way, you will meet a number of interesting foes, including your childhood nemesis. Here's an excerpt from the review:

The only real problem with the gameplay is the time it takes to move from place to place. It's often unclear where you'll move when you click, and you can't correct yourself or do anything until the robot arrives where it's headed. This can be particularly annoying when you've made him his full height, as that slows down the walking speed considerably. You can avoid this problem by getting to optimum walking speed before moving, but it's still not something you'll always remember to do.

I loved this game. Gorgeous art and great brain teasers. There are a lack of creative games like this these days. The five-in-a-row game was a little maddening, but if you can't figure it out there is a solution on YouTube. Buy this game for sure!

Remember guns don't kill people... Pfhor do.

I actually got through the five-in-a-row on the first go, so that didn't bother me.  I played it several more times just because, and won 3/5.  It seemed like if you lasted long enough, eventually the AI made a stupid mistake (deliberately?) that you could take advantage of.

Owl, not crow.  But don't think the lack of obsessing in these reviews over the exact number of hours of gameplay has gone unnoticed.  :)  I for one appreciate it.  "A little short" is perfectly valid (and accurate), and all we need to know, thank you.

Yeah, the "connect 5" minigame was frustrating and I too think that the AI eventually makes a "mistake" to let you win. IIRC, the first player always wins if they don't make a mistake. Anyway, it doesn't detract from such a great game. This game is simply delightful.
