Now available for Mac
Free Demo / Shop at
http://www.coremecha...reMechanic.html

Important: If the demo doesn't run, please post your system stats. I need to know the specific model of your mac, specific hardware details such as graphics cards and processors, and anything unique about your system. At the very least, I need to know what version of OSX you're using and whether your processor is PPC or Intel. Thank you.

Classic Action. Modern Graphics. Indie Game.

Core Mechanic is a simple top-down arena shooter which combines oldschool 2D gameplay with next-gen 3D graphics. Blast through wave after wave of increasingly dangerous enemies whose simple shot patterns combine to form intriguing new random combinations.

Built on the rock-solid Unity3D game engine. Featuring music by Symphony of Specters. Now availible for Mac.

Darn.

What version of OSX are you using? Also is it a Power PC or an Intel?

If possible, post your full system stats and I'll pass the info along to Unity Team.

I could export a special build of the demo for either PPC or Intel. (The current mac build is "Universal." Which AFAIK should support both, but it's worth a try.)

Yikes. Two at once? Right from the word go? I think I'm just gonna point Unity Team directly to this thread.

(Obviously UmarOMC1 can disregard this since his system stats are in his sig. :P )

Thank you very much!

Nothing to do with Unity or anything, it's the archive...I tried unzipping from the command line:

inflating: CoreMechanicV10UniversalDemo.app/Contents/Frameworks/Mono.framework/mscorlib.dll bad CRC a7ccbaa9 (should be a1b022f0)

You just need to recompress and reupload it, and don't corrupt it this time. ;)

OH! I gotcha.

Reuploaded. Does it work now?

(I tested it myself with GUItar, Archive Utility, and Stuffit Expander, I just want to make sure it works on your end too.)

Sorry, that was a typo.

(This forum makes it very difficult to make pretty links. If you edit the post, it turns into html code for some reason. :/ )

For security reasons HTML is not allowed in members posts. Rather than executing the HTML, it simply dumps it to the screen as text. The IMG News is the only special case user that can post HTML. Here is a guide to our customized BBCode, you can do a lot with it to pretty up your posts.

Yep, runs fine now. From a first-impressions standpoint, the lack of an icon for the game is pretty tacky. However, things improve after that, as the game itself is quite polished and the soundtrack is good. There are some bits of the default Unity GUI lingering around, which detracts a little bit (if you're familiar with Unity), but other than that the presentation is well done.

No I mean spcifically if you make a url= tag and then save the post and then edit the post it's not a url tag anymore. Suddenly it's HTML. The only workaround I could find was to not use the url tag but instead just type the url literally. But then THAT got converted automatically into url tags, and I'm worried that one of these days, those are gonna change into html again when I edit the first post.

Part of the problem is if I save it and then notice a change, when I go to edit that change, the code I have in front of me is different than the code I saved in the first place, so it's easy to make a mistake. This doesn't seem to happen on other PHPBB forums I've been to recently.

Good, good.

I agree with you about the icon, but I don't know how to fix it by hand, so it'll have to wait until I can upgrade to Unity Pro.

You don't need Unity Pro, you just need Unity 2.6, which does it for you in the player settings. Doing it manually is not hard though: the cheap way is to copy the icon from somewhere, then do Cmd-I and paste it in the icon in the top-left corner. The correct way (prevents the icon being deleted among other things) is to make the .icns file, then call it "UnityPlayerIcon.icns" and put it in the Contents/Resources folder in the app. Or call it something else and edit the Info.plist file appropriately.

I've never seen anything like that on this forum, but it's been acting up lately with IPS driver errors so maybe it's related.

Version 1.1 now availible.

Get it here!
http://www.coremechanic.net/

Changes in version 1.1
(Note that you may need to refresh your web browser in order to see the links to the new demo files.)
- Slightly improved performance.
- Sound effects now much smoother and more consistent.
- Tweaked weapon balance. (Each weapon now requires a different type of skill in order to be successful.)
- Fixed the display of the order in which you switch weapons.

Also apparently I can't edit the first post anymore. That makes it really hard to inform people of updates without starting a new thread. :(
