I'm currently trying to access apple's website to download bootcamp drivers but all I get is 'HTTP Unavailable'. New iMac refresh?

Very strange. It doesn't work on any of the computers in the household. However it works on the iPhone's cell signal. Must be my ISP.

However I will watch as people view this thread hoping to catch any juicy specs on the new machines, here the are:

Core i9 'Bloomfield': 6 Core 3.0 GHz
ATI 5890 1 GB in Crossfire
8 GB's of DDR3 RAM
Blu-Ray
6' cubed of holographic 3D image field
Runs off of the earths magnetic field so it does not need to be plugged in

Price: $1099

PC: 3.6 GHz C2Q | 4 GB DDR2 | ATi 5850 | 500 GB Seagate HDD | W7 x64

Actually, the Apple Store is down now for real.

It's back again, but I don't see what's new. Definitely no new iMacs. Friday would have been a very unusual day for that anyway.

Hopefully they release them soon. In my economics class I threw a lot of money into apple in our class stock market competition - hoping that they'll release their new products soon

There's no need to worry on that front. Apple have traditionally had an upswing in sales whenever a new version of windows is released. Based of the back of that, Apple's stocks should raise a bit, but strong pre-order sales of W7 along with a lot of positive press should have seen you plonk a good chunk of your "cash" on the evil empire....

But Apple is a fairly safe bet these days, so no harm done.

Cube - G4 1.7Ghz 7448 / 1.5Gb RAM / Samsung Spinpoint 250GB / Geforce 6200 256Mb

We won! Apple offer the 17" with a matte screen! Well... at a price...

I'm invested about 40% in apple, 40% in MS, and 20% in Starbucks. So we'll see how it goes

Edit: Apple's releasing their Q3 statement on monday, so I'll throw in 100 percent of my funds then and see where it takes me

Just the usual complete mirroring to make sure they have a backup in case the update that's coming goes sour, I'll wager ;)

Updates looking good for the 20th (according to a very good source - anonymity a must ;)). To partially steal MS's thunder, makes sense with Windows 7 out on 22nd.

IMHO, with Blu-ray now a standard in similarly-priced PCs & still integrated graphics in the £1,000+ 24" iMac, these updates need to be better than usual if Apple are to continue attracting as many switchers as in recent years. IMO, Windows 7 needs only to be good enough, which going by most opinion, it is.

I'm not so sure on the whole BD front. If there was going to be BD in a mac any time soon, there should've been the hooks for it in the OS, which people would have spotted. Though, it would go part of the way to explaining why DVD Player is still a 32-bit app. If Apple plan to release a BD version of it, then they might as well wait till they've got the hardware and be able to spend the time with the rewrite adding in BD support at the same time...
That looks confusing, so Ill just say "you feel me?"

As I said above, Windows releases are good times for Mac sales, and someone at Apple already said that lots of people basically have to start over when they update to the latest Windows, so why not make the jump over the Mac instead?

Sure do, man. I feel the vibe in those words. ;) - Though no BD yet kinda surprises me, I actually agree with the reasoning. Also, if Apple don't want to drop Mac prices, I can think of a few other components I'd rather see updated significantly than have BD - though a fair few Mac users seem to be clamouring for it.

Certainly the case in recent years & I hope it continues after Windows 7... which it might. Macs remain a compelling choice for many home users, including those running Windows, whilst a lot of the business/enterprise world might be better off sticking with XP for a while longer. Should be interesting to see how things pan out.

I invested every last red cent I have into apple this morning. They released their Q4 statement today at 4:30. They are reporting the best quarter in Apple's history, I will watch my stock soar tomorrow :D

The Apple Store is down again. Since this coincides with the release of Apple's quarterly earnings, I would assume that it's serious this time.

21.5 inch and 27 inch iMacs. I thought my 24 inch was big enough! Here's the specs page.

Quite like the new iMac designs (though my current one should last me years yet). The mouse I'll have to test first. No great surprise at some price increases in the UK - a pity really. Once again, bound to price out quite a few prospective buyers, perhaps more so than usual.

ugh... 16:9? *sigh* every update Apple make some stupid move that annoys me more than all the improvements.
The only good things about the new displays is that they've got a pretty high pixel density, and they've managed to retain the IPS panels. The bad is that they're 16:9, and still covered in glass.

On the good side, though, we've got reputedly i5 and i7 quad core CPUs on offer for the 27" (though they're not interchangeable, so there's some nomenclature shenanigans going on here). GPUs are suitably anaemic aside from the solitary almost good option.

So really, its quite a good update, just with the damned 16:9 ratio...

The mouse looks interesting, though. It'll probably be fairly useless when it comes to distinguishing between a left and a right click, but it's design is very cool.

That second-highest end 27" iMac (the i5) with the 4850 is almost enough to make me sell my laptop and go back to a desktop and my touch. 27" ... very very nice (I have the iMac right now in a no glare zone so the lack of matte doesn't phase me). Hmmmm. My issue is that they still don't have an entry level machine with a decent dedicated video card.
