I recently downloaded the demo of AoE III and fell in love with it. However, in the midst of getting to learn it I upgraded to Snow Leopard, at which point all of the text in the game disappeared. Everything seems to work, but there's no text in the buttons, cutscenes or anywhere else. This makes the game basically unplayable -- quick, what resource do I need to advance my civilization to the next age?!
Can anyone out there with a full version of the game let me know if this works OK on their Snow Leopard machine?

Did you ever resolve your question? I installed the demo on a new macbook pro, and have the exact same issue. I'm hoping that the most updated retail version works properly, but don't want to purchase an unplayable game...
Can anyone confirm if Age of Empires III works on Snow Leopard?

Yes, I can. Works fine.

Works fine for me on 10.6.1, on both an MBP (128 MB X1600) and an MB (GMA 950).

No SL here yet so will just say, great game & excellent Mac port, as are both AoE III expansion packs. Ditto "AoE 2" & "AoMythology". Enjoy!

Hi,
my problem with AoE 3 and Snow Leopard concerned the FRENCH full version, not the trial version
I found a solution on internet and it worked fine. I suppose this could also do for other language versions although I did not try it out!
Do as follows:
Click on AoE3 file, but don't open>Show Package Contents->Resources->GameData FR(TR for US version)->FONTS->Open the file Fonts2.xml with TextEdit
Change the first line of this file as follows:
<?xml version = "1.0" encoding = "UTF-8"?>
that's all. For me this worked.
if you are using another language version, I suppose the file "GameData FR" should be replaced by your language version.
In any case, keep a backup copy of the original file. You never know...
