This goes way back - probably before MacOS X - I think I used to play it before I had broadband - so that would probably be 10 years ago (maybe)

There was a game that I used to play on the internet where you would run around in a Mech-like vehicle and shoot the other players. The "mechs" were just super simple shapes (no textures) and the maps were pretty basic. The Mechs walked on 2 legs. It was online and multi-player only. You'd run around and shoot the other players.

It was not MechWarrior - it was much more simple than that.

I think it was considered a "test" by a bigger Mac game company. I think it was free, but it could have been shareware.

The name Avatar (or something like that) comes to mind, but I don't really know if that is right. I haven't been able to find any thing on Google with that name.

Does this ring any bells with anyone? Do you remember the name and/or company of the game?

When there's a multiplayer version, I'm going to be on Frost's team. Well, except he doesn't seem to actually need a team...I mean, what's the point? "Hey look, it's Frost and His Merry Gang of Useless Hangers-On!" Or something.
