Oh, very nice! :) I always thought the trailers of Machinarium simply looked awesome and hoped for a Mac version. Nice to hear there's one actually planned.

I see how there is easily a Mac version of this, as it is a flash game like all their others.

There's a demo. (It's in German, but there isn't much text.)

I got the demo here, which is not in German, but then again it's localized in a bunch of languages including German, so likely it's the same demo.

At least the demos are monolingual. So – for all who can't read German – take this one.

Ah, could be it's just the Flash player itself that's localized then.

If you haven't picked this one up yet, Machinarium is currently available for $5 until Aug 12. Something to do with bloody pirates... YARRRR! Eh. Gets me a copy for cheap. :)

I wonder where they got the 90% piracy rate from - but pretty shocking figures anyway. I would have thought for indie games it would be less but apparently not - damn those pirates! In any case I've ordered the collectors edition (boxed with extra CD, booklet and poster) from 365games.co.uk as it was only £10.99 which isn't bad :)

They pull those numbers from their arse. There is no way for them to know who would have bought a game or pirated it. They 'guess', and not a very educated one at that.

They're not saying that those that pirated would have bought it. There's no projected "We've lost X Billion Dollars because of pirates." that's the kind of nonsense that major publishers fabricate out of thin air.
None of that, they're just saying that for every person that bought the game, there were roughly 9 more that didn't and pirated it.

And they can guesstimate the numbers from hunting down torrent numbers and direct DL sites, using that as a basis. Heck, I'm sure there's people that were cheeky enough to distribute the DL link they were emailed (as happened with the Humble Bundle, where they estimate around 25% of all the DLs direct from their servers were unpaid for)...
