Ok all, so I just picked up a 2G 32GB Touch.
I'm wondering if simply jailbreaking it will be good enough or is the 3.0 update really so much better that it's worth upgrading it from 2.0 or whatever the default is on the 2G.
After looking on the Apple site, really the only feature that grabs my attention is the ability to copy and paste. Having multi-language keyboard support seems nice, but for the amount I'd use it, it's not really a deal breaker. Same goes for the automatic login.

The price I'm seeing on the iTunes store is $5. Does that mean it's only $5 to upgrade to 3.1? Or do I have to pay to upgrade to 3.0 ($10, right?) and then an extra $5 to upgrade to 3.1? (for a total of $15)

I'm confused here.
Thanks in advance. :nods:

That would be silly. :) The only time you pay is for major version updates, like with OS X...well, iPhone OS is OS X too.... As for jailbreaking, all I know is that it makes devices crash more (pretty much all the crash reports for my game are from jailbroken devices).

You only have to pay $5 to upgrade from iTouch OS X 2.x to 3.1. Apple dropped that price a few weeks ago.

I see how/why I was confused now.
I just saw the $10 price from before.

I'll update it then for the $5 then.
Thanks. :)

You will have to pay only once. Just $5 will do it.

Updated to 3.1.
Doesn't seem a whole lot different, more that I can use some apps I had wanted to use on it originally. Although being able to organize my apps through itunes is nice.
I'll still prob jailbreak it once theirs a hack out. I'm getting tired of not being able to do anything when it comes to customization aka that damn black screen!
