Hi,

Having a bit of an issue with running Homeworld 2 on my MacBook Pro 2.8 GHz. It will install but not run. It just crashes to desktop. I am running Leo (not Snow) and have installed the HW2 patch but still no luck. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hey,

So, is anyone else having this issue? Does the game just not run on the newer mac hardware?

Here's my situation: I can run HW2 on my Intel iMac, circa 2006, running Tiger 10.4.11. However, there is a cutscene movie about halfway through the campaign that invariably crashes my whole computer. Also, sometimes just playing matches against the computer makes the game (just the game) crash after 10 minutes or so. I don't know if that clarifies anything for you besides knowing now that HW2 sorta runs OK on Intel processors.

I am sorry to ask this if you have already done it, but have you checked around on other sites about HW2 and the compatibility issues, maybe a games compatibility (incompatibility list invariably) list or something?

Liberator.
iMac G5: 2.0 GHz l 1GB RAM l OSX 10.4.11 l ATI Radeon 9600 l 128 MB VRAM
iMac C2D: 2.16GHz l 2GB RAM l OSX 10.4.11 l nVidia 7600GT l 256 MB VRAM

hi,

ya i did check that out. it says that it runs fine on intel - that use to be the case with my MBP 2.2 GHz (10.4.11). i could eve play online with out issue. but now that i have a better computer the 2.8 GHz (10.5.8), it does not run at all. which i don't get. it is kinda too bad since with all the mods out there for HW2, it was still fun to play. perhaps aspyr will do a new patch soon, but i doubt it.

thanks for getting back to me. if i find out any new info i will post back.

Maybe it is a combination of software and hardware? I looked around, and it seems that for some people it is fine, and for others it is not. Again, I am sorry to ask this, but have you tried re-installing it? Also, if it means that much to you, you could try and do a clean install of Leopard, and save the files you need, then restore them again?

It sucks to hear that. Ah well, maybe there could always be a fix in the future, or it may well sort itself out…

Edit: you said it ran fine on another computer you tested it on, yes? Then maybe it is only your MBP (possibly).
