I got 3 beta keys at the moment if anyone would like them.

Heroes Of Newerth is basically a DotA clone. And if you don't know what DotA is, you don't deserve any of the keys.. :P

Im assuming this game is going be be pretty big in a few years, so who wants to be there when it started? The game is pretty bug free at the moment, and runs perfectly on my girlfriends 13" MBP.

DotA (Defense of the Ancients) is a rather popular Warcraft 3 mod. It is considered to be the forerunner of today's tower defense games.

Since when did DotA have anything to do with tower defense games? Also I just played a game and it seems like it might be like the DotA community, unhelpful (As I haven't played very much dota or HoN.). It would be nicer if people actually helped their noobier team mates to become better players than telling them to leave or do nothing.

Yes, the community is a copy of that of DotA, full of idiots and morons unfortunately. But, fortunately it has a very good friends system, clan system, and you have a build in banlist!

And hopefully the final game will have a training map, where people can learn how to play, so the community won't flame *that* much...

Edit: Btw, they are addding 75000 keys in a few days!

I've played a couple of games and thus far had better experience that when I tried out DotA years ago. I liked the game but hated the elitist hostility of the players. In my 2 or 3 games of HoN it's been more reasonable. The worst game I played, after about the fifth time I died within the first ten minutes, all anybody said was "be a little more careful please".

I'm using the same handle on HoN, btw. Friend me and there'll be at least one friendly person to play with.

One thing that impresses me about this project is they've done an excellent job scaling the graphics for different hardware. On top graphical settings it looks very pretty indeed, but is totally unplayable on my '06 iMac. On bottom settings it runs silky smooth even in the biggest fights, and is not distractingly ugly or confusing in any way.

I have no beta keys to give out, but for anyone who takes up Thain Esh Kelch on his offer, if you are either entirely new to the DotA genre or, like me, hadn't played it in years, go here:

http://forums.penny-...ead.php?t=96259

...scroll down to where it says "Basic Gameplay Guides", and read them. They're short, and essential. (Links to the guides go to the HoN Beta forums, which you need a HoN account to read.)

They also have some good guides on the beta forum, which you can check out when you have gotten a beta key.

Old skool DotA players can jump right in. You only need to learn two things: What the old heroes look like (Some are changed, some new, but lots of oldies) and learn the new shop system which sucks donkey behinds.

Tempting...I stopped playing just because of the behavior of most players there (and some versions of DotA were so insanely complex too), but looks like nothing changed...Any demo available? I don't want a full key for 10mn of gameplay...

I've been playing for 2 months, and the community can be pretty bad, but it doesn't really matter if you play with friends or join a clan. I'm in The Legion Civilized, which is basically a clan for people who don't insult everything you do and try to help you. :)

I also have a few beta keys too, in case anyone wants one.

Haha, any chance I can get into your clan Infinity?

Sure thing, check out this forum thread, and contact Vadi, RedOmen, Eidolon, or Treksdot ingame. :)

EDIT: I encourage everyone to use this mod if you're new to the game, it will probably help a lot. http://forums.heroes...ead.php?t=20112 (you need to have a HoN account to see the page)
