Paradox Interactive is working on Victoria 2, described as a cult-hit by the company. Certainly look forward to a VP announcement down the road of a Mac port.

Victoria was an interesting trade off between the flexibility of EU2 and the tighter timeline and events of the industrial transformation of the West. I loved it, and still play it now and then, despite its occasional weakness (a better economy, perhaps?)

Anyway, fascinated to see where they go with this!

I hope there is some automation for things like building railroads, maybe an AI control system similar to HOI3 as well. I loved the stock market in Vicky, but it took some MM initially. Also, I never felt many countries in Vicky could be managed beyond their historical status. The EU series seemed to allow a player to really make a difference in a countries outcome. I'd like this for Vicky 2.

Did you ever play Revolutions? That changed up quite a few things, with railroad and factory building being done by the AI if your government was laissez-faire, etc. It's a bit weird to not have complete control over my country, but it does give a bit more weight to your government choices, etc.

I did play Revolutions, but I don't recall that feature. Maybe I never qualified for the laissez-faire, etc. ;) I do hope they "fix" the diplomacy AI, specifically in reference to war. I found it really annoying that the AI would NEVER accept peace. I used a cheat code to force it once I thought any reasonable person would do so.

Victoria (with the Revolutions add-on) was a ton of fun. Alas, my skills as an economist were not quite up to snuff. I managed to bankrupt just about every nation I played. I'm looking forward to the new version of the game.

Aw, they'll accept peace if you thrash them enough and take their capital (painting naughty slogans on their palace, etc). Anyway, let's hope for a wonderful sequel!
