New Mouse?

Guys,
I seem to be having a problem with my Microsoft Habu mouse.
Everytime I'm browsing in Safari and Firefox and I want to scroll backwards, I end up going back 2 pages?
However it does seem to be ok when scrolling forward with pages.
Could it be that I need a new mouse or do you think it might be software related?

I'm pretty sure its software related. Check what the buttons are configured to, and if that doesn't change anything then I would reinstall the drivers for the mouse.

Sounds like you might have set a custom command ("back") that's activated on both the down and up stroke.

OK I un-installed and re-installed Steermouse but I'm still having the same problems.
BTW, its only on the back command it jumps pages - Going forward its fine.
Just checked again in Firefox and the same thing happens there also.
I cant see anywhere in the system that will have a custom command - where can I look?

Did you check the "mouse" category in system preferences?

My sound preferences looked fine too. But ever since I had this computer it has started up with the sound turned down and I manually had to turn it up each time. Eventually I bought and ran Diskwarrior 4.1.1, I was told that my sound prefs were corrupt. I deleted them and restarted and my problem has never returned.

Unfortunately I dont have Diskwarrior so I'm not sure what to do next?
I might just try testing on a clean installation of OS X?

Diskwarrior only told me that the preference file was corrupt. Assume that your mouse preference file is corrupt and move it to another folder, then restart your computer. If that helps, throw the old preference file away, if not, restore it if you want to.

Do you know if I should be looking for a com.apple plist or Microsoft & Steermouse Plists?
