I'm thinking of buying the digital download version of Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 for Mac OS X from GameTree Online.

Has anyone bought this? What the DRM like on the Mac OS X digital download version?

I've bought a few titles of GameTree and for the once I got there was only a one time serial activation where I had to be connected to the internet. Don't know if there is some phone home thing if running the same game with the same serial on multiple machines at the same time but I would assume there is something like that to keep people from spreading their serial around.

My main concern is that I'll need to be connected to the Internet to play. This isn't always convenient for me.

Also, I'd like to be able to play on my Mac Pro when at home or on my MacBook Pro when traveling.

Offline playing works fine never had issues with that as for installing on two computers, I've only done that with Puzzle Quest and non of their other games. PQ didn't have a issue with installing on two machines but I've never tried running it on both at the same time, also PQ is one of their earliest games I don't know if this has changed for their newer titles. They list you can perform 3 installs and need to contact support if you need more: http://www.gametreeo...upport/faq/#2_5

Anyone currently considering the digi version might care to know that Amazon UK have the boxed Mac version selling new at a mere £9.37. Probably won't last long though. Got my copy today:

Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 (Mac)

SecuROM in Cider. There's a one time activation that requires you to be connected to the internet. 5 activation limit. You can reclaim activations by deactivating from the launcher and uninstalling the game. It will reactivate when you fire up the game again.

EA's standard fare right now.

Direct2Drive has this for 15 dollars right now.
