Actually, I heard about this quite a while ago. But I also heard that the developer of the iPhone version didn't have the rights to release it (it seems the levels are freely available, but still copyrighted, similar to the situation with Marathon) so that the game was pulled from the App store (can't find the link to that right now). And it's certainly no longer available in the German App store.

Is this another, more "official" version of the game?

Which makes me wonder why nobody else has gone the route Mobila Interactive has gone with Tyrian, for which you have to separately download the actual game files within the app as they're only free as directly accessed by the end user. I thought that that was quite the clever workaround for such a situation.

Stumbled over this link on the Touch Arcade forum just now.

Man, that Dave Taylor guy sounds pretty damn nasty. So I guess this makes Abuse Classic an "officially sanctioned" version.

Yep, that's a new port. The old one was called "Alien Abuse" and looked somewhat different.

Actually, Bungie only produced that game as they did Weekend Warrior. Abuse was developed by Crack Dot Com. But still, yeah, when I think of Abuse I think of Bungie.

Yes, and since it was in the Bungie Action Sack....

But wow, this is a nasty story behind Alien Abuse and Abuse Classic. Really nasty.
