Now they just need to get rid of the SD card port (its sooo pointless), give us back expresscard, and at the next revision give us FW3200, USB3, Wireless USB and perhaps even a combination USB and eSATA port and Ill buy a new laptop...
Can't please some people eh?
Macbook Pro - C2D 2.4Ghz / 4Gb RAM / WD Scorpio Black 320GB ( 255GB OSX v 42GB XP ) / Geforce 8600M GT 256Mb / 15.4"
Cube - G4 1.7Ghz 7448 / 1.5Gb RAM / Samsung Spinpoint 250GB / Geforce 6200 256Mb
We won! Apple offer the 17" with a matte screen! Well... at a price...

?
I thought you could with the new ones? They give instructions for doing so in the manual...
I'm thinking of taking advantage of Canada's new 100% write-off for computer purchases... Might be time for a new MBP.

The latest MBPs, with the bigger non-replaceable batteries also can't have the HDD replaced because the bottom is a single solid piece of metal. The previous generation (where the FW lacking unibody MB's were still MB's, not MBPs and we had expresscard slots) had a user replaceable battery had the HDD accessible once you'd taken off the bottom shell which made the battery accessible too.
Now everything is like the previous 17" models. No getting to the HDD without voiding your warranty.

Er, no. The frame and the top of the lower half are one solid piece of metal. The bottom is actually a screwed on metal sheet. Replacing the HDD now requires a little bit more screwing compared to the previous unibody models but it's still easier by far compared to the pre-unibody MBPs. Check the manuals, page 37.

Good to know they maintained the ability to replace the HDD yourself, though.
