So, I noticed that the Mac is getting or has the major games I would want (Rome Total War, Civ 4, Pirates!, etc) except it is lacking on two that I know I will miss: Sins of a Solar Empire and Galactic Civilizations 2. Those are both amazing games that I put many hours into, and would love anything like them. I have heard horrid things about MoO3 so I guess that is obviously out, but are there any others that would fit my 4X space addiction? I know Homeworld 2 and Starcraft are out, but those are going to be a little too fast paced for what I am really looking for. Thanks for any help on this.
Also, I know I could dual boot, but I am seriously trying to avoid that. And this should be my last topic for a while.

One classic is Spaceward Ho! It's somewhat cartoonish, but pretty complex when you delve deeper into it. Civ IV BtS also features an awesome space scenario.

DOSBox running MoO and MoO2 provides plenty of fun!
I ran them both with Sheepsaver, but it was a lot less work to just use the DOS versions. I keep thinking I'll look into FreeOrion one of these days, but I never get around to it.

An old favorite of mine is Star Chamber. It is a beautiful combination of a 4x strategy game and a CCG. It has a small, but very dedicated player base. What I love best about it is that you can get the full 4x strategy game experience (build-up, tech, battle, etc) in a 30 to 60 minute game.
Also, the community is very helpful, and gives full sets of common cards for free to new players. Unlike most CCGs, the commons make up the bulk of the stable cards. The rares are usually unique or weird, but not overpowering. A well-constructed commons deck will usually beat a rare-heavy deck.

I'll second Star Chamber. I started playing 4 years ago, and still play semi regularly. Since Sony got its clutches on it, they no longer officially support the mac client, but it still works great. You can download it from my personal website here: http://homepage.mac....ss/starchamber/
I'd also like to plug my own game Constellation. Its much simpler, but its a lot of fun. Gameplay is a bit like Risk, Go, Othello, and Minesweeper.
You can try it here: http://www.paperdragongames.com
An earlier version took 2nd place in the uDevGames contest earlier this year.
Cheers,

Star Chamber gets my vote. I've been playing for a couple of years and it never gets stale. The in depth strategy has the boardplay element with the added complication of the card decks that modify the rules. There are endless types of decks to build, and the player base are happy to give away the commons to get decks started. Many players are happy to play "common only" decks as well to remove the effects of power cards.
I've attached a link to a youtube video that someone put together to show it.
