I tried to do a topic search but noticed that this game isn't as talked about. I was wondering what kind of game EV: Nova is. I read someone saying that it is like Pirates! which is a personal favorite of mine, so I wouldn't mind that. I know it is based in space, which I also love those settings (i.e. Galactic Civ 2, Sins of a Solar Empire, etc) so that is another plus in its favor. Also, a final plus is getting the older ones as add-ons (if I read that right earlier).

I just really know nothing about it and I am looking for a few games for my Mac. Thanks in advance and sorry to be asking so many questions about so many games.

How about you just download it and play it? :)

Yeah, its essentially Pirates! in space (and you can in turn become a Pirate... in space!).
As Eric said, just grab the game and play it. You've got a 30 day trial period and after that Cap'n Hector will start trying to kill you whenever he sees you, so you could really keep on playing after the 30 days if you're resilient enough...
Polytetrafluoroethylene to my friends.

Macbook Pro - C2D 2.4Ghz / 4Gb RAM / WD Scorpio Black 320GB ( 255GB OSX v 42GB XP ) / Geforce 8600M GT 256Mb / 15.4"
Cube - G4 1.7Ghz 7448 / 1.5Gb RAM / Samsung Spinpoint 250GB / Geforce 6200 256Mb

We won! Apple offer the 17" with a matte screen! Well... at a price...

It's a great game :) I lost a lot of time playing that a year or two back and even got a friend of mine to buy a copy for his PC. It's a timeless classic!

EV Nova is a great game. I thought it had a fair amount of replay value as well. Burnt me up some big chunks of time on EV Nova!
I've always thought if you put together some nice cinematics for the plot progression and added on a top down space port exploration where you wander from shop to shop and engage in a bit of (EV Nova style top down) combat as well you'd have an even more amazing game.

It's worth noting that the gameplay longevity of EV is lengthened considerably by the many add-ons and scenarios available for it, such as Arpia, Polycon EV, and the ports of EV Classic and EV Override to EV Nova.

Prepair to lose weeks of your life with EV: Nova. I spent many a coffee fueled night playing Nova in college. Even today I'll break it out for a weekend. Probably the single best 30 bucks you can spend for sheer number of entertainment hours on the Mac.
