If you've got a hankering for a history lesson, some fun gameplay, gore and warfare, you could do worse than visit Channel 4's new Flash site called 1066.

Just finished a battle. Sucked (but still won, naturally) since I was still getting the hang of it, but this game is fun! My next battle I will destroy the enemy in the field, sack their villages, and rape and pillage across the English countryside, the VIKING WAY!

Not quite as strategic and deep as 1066, but somewhat similar: a blend of history and blood – Crush the Castle.
