Has anyone had any luck in getting the Broken Steel add-on for PC? My attempts to navigate the Windows LIVE interface have been singularly unsatisfying, and I can't tell whether this add-on is available for PC or currently broken and awaiting patching.

Do you mean the "Games for Windows Live" interface?

One thing I've learned about games with that crap is that if there's an update or whatever, you just have to let it run.. walking away from it and doing something else for a bit is how I've gotten around it.

As far as getting the add-on / expansion with "Games for Windows Live," I am unaware that such a thing was even possible. I've only messed with GFWL twice... once on the Gears of War port and once on the Quantum of Solace port. In both cases the procedure to install the game and get it running is far more laborious than I think it should be.

Yes, that has certainly been my experience. Laborious, counter-intuitive, and prone to multiple crashes. I apparently got BrokenSteel to download, except not really as it is invisible to the Fallout program and I can't find the files. Apparently, it doesn't work right if your clock time is incorrect (you know about the 4 hour later BootCamp clock), so I'm going to try to reset my clock and redownload. The whole GFWL experience is so idiotic that it makes you swear to stick to physical discs only in the future.

Geez – you made me curious, so I just took a look at the german GFWL site. It obviously hasn't been updated since 2007...

Ok, just in case someone else wants to do this at some point, the problem is that GFWL downloads the Broken Steel files into the wrong folder, and the program can therefore not access them. Of course, you can't see that because Windows hides all the bloody folders, assuming you're a 12-thumbed idiot. So, here's a link to how to solve the problem: Fixing Broken Steel
Mind you, this does not solve the problem with Games for Windows LIVE which has now suddenly decided it dislikes my router (after getting along with it fine for 2 days), and now wont let me in. A common problem, by the way, judging from the forums. Fortunately, I've got my Broken Steel files and I intend to delete the nightmare of Windows LIVE from my hard drive immediately.
