I've just installed the new 10.5.7 and it has corrected the Nvidia 8800 stuttering graphics problems for me and has made the game playable for the 1st time in 12 months. Doesn't seem quite as smooth as I remember it on Tiger with my white intel imac, but it's VERY playable now!

anyone else had experience of this??

Macbook Pro - C2D 2.4Ghz / 4Gb RAM / WD Scorpio Black 320GB ( 255GB OSX v 42GB XP ) / Geforce 8600M GT 256Mb / 15.4"
Cube - G4 1.7Ghz 7448 / 1.5Gb RAM / Samsung Spinpoint 250GB / Geforce 6200 256Mb

We won! Apple offer the 17" with a matte screen! Well... at a price...

Yes I can confirm it, with a 8600m GT.

80% of the shuttering is gone, but you can still notice it on heavy map. I have to test now if the shadow in high rendering method are correct.

And because it will work even better if they do it themselves, instead of an Apple update.

And it's not like the patch would only be focused on stuttering. There are no doubt other issues that could be addressed besides what Apple has fixed. I believe Brad also mentioned before that the root cause for the stuttering issue being fixed could also benefit non-nVidia GPUs. So even if Apple improved the nVidia drivers to bring performance up, an actual code fix on the CoD2 side could further improve things for everyone and may be insurance against possible regression in future nVidia drivers or future GPUs.

Color me surprised that 10.5.7 fixed this; I had no idea it was on Nvidia's TODO list. I don't know that I'm inclined to spend much more energy on this as the changes necessary to fix this from our end are fairly invasive - a near-rewrite of the vertex submission code.

What other issues do you want to see addressed for Call of Duty 2?

Well I mean it still stutters : less than before but still not smooth. As somebody mentioned, 80% of the stutter is gone, but not completely.

Stuttering is improved, but still noticeable and problematic. Can't get High rendering working either (black screen).

Seriously, that is sooooo much better. I wouldnt be too worried about a patch now.
BUT, there are still a few kinks which could be worked out. The main one that I found was that if you dont have high quality graphics already set, you cant do it from the main menu system, because that will then result in a black screen until you delete the preferences file. So you need to enter a game first and then go to the menu and switch to high quality, at which point it reloads the map and puts you back in the game.

So it would still be quite nice to put 1.3 through a quick round of testing in 10.5.7 to see what little bugs still remain and then have a sit down to think about releasing a patch or not.

On the downside, I find that I really dont like this game any more. Id much rather play something that isnt a stepping stone between the excellent CoD 1 and CoD 4.

I really don't undestand ! I saw the game with high rendering and 10.5.7, it's looked nice ! but now, I don't know why, I get a black screen every time I set high rendering mode...

You need to delete your preferences and then set them once youve already loaded a level.
And it would appear that unless you do this every time youre going to load up the main menu to a black screen.

we still need a patch brad! pleeeeease!
