On the May 1st iGame Radio podcast I heard from co-host Corey Tamas that Glenda Adams has left Aspyr! He had no details he was willing to provide but was pretty sure that Glenda has slipped the surly bonds of Aspyr and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Anybody know what she is doing now?

Ha! I new it. She was recruited by the North Koreans

I think she took your warning to heart tBC. It is most likely the appointing of Frost as an Mod that led her to this decision and she has become a double agent!

:the rebellion against Frost has an unexpected twist:

Writing iPhone games probably; she's already done several.

Well, this must be the monthly "Mac gaming is dying" thread. It's all about the iPhone anymore isn't it?

Might help to explain the strange half-release of Civ4 Beyond the Sword. There's a release page on the Aspyr site, and it's linked from a randomly displayed front page graphic, but there's no announcement anywhere that I can find.

Does Glenda leaving make things any worse for Mac gaming than they already were? I mean, other then Feral, Blizzard & very few others doing proper Mac-native ports, the death bells have been tolling for a while now. It's just that some people (me included) sometimes prefer not to hear them. :(

Probably part of the current restructuring of Aspyr.

Could very well be. Its a damned shame to see her leaving Aspyr, since she is one of the pillars of the mac gaming world, and without her things will definitely be worse.

But, this doesnt mean that Aspyr wont be doing mac ports any more. After all, theres still Brad, the in house dev team and also the 3rd parties used for CoD4. So it could be that Aspyr are scaling back internally and heading more towards Feral's business plan of outsourcing the ports...

either way, and whatever the real reason, Im sad to see this happen.

We won! Apple offer the 17" with a matte screen! Well... at a price...

Sorry to hear this. Can't really blame her though. I wish her the best of luck in her new endeavors. :D

Makes me even more worried than before about Aspyr's Mac commitment.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is the case. That, or she's getting off the ship before it capsizes.

As a side note, Blizzard's Rob Barris posted a strange "goodbye" message at the WoW Mac support forums. I don't know if that means he's too important to worry about WoW anymore or if he's actually exiting the company; it would be sad were it the latter.

She stated ages ago that she moved from actual Mac-specific development to some sort of director of development at Aspyr, so it's not like she was actually porting games anymore.

But Brad has blabbed recently about how he's developing console games (for both major boxes). It was funny because it was right after his "back to basics" comments about Aspyr's renewed focus.

Good snag, thanks. Best of luck to Glenda and Maverick Software.

Rob Barris has been nothing but good for Mac gamers for a long time. That is a pity.

I'm stunned at hearing the news about Glenda. I hope she finds continued success in her new work. BTW, her work page is like walking down the memory lane of Mac game I owned. I think I owned about 90% of the game titles shown.

I'm most impressed with her endurance events, but I'm sure programming helped her mental toughness.
