Hi everyone, I am interested in playing all the Diablos in multiplayer mode between my wife's Mac and my PC. If I can get it to work, hopefully she will be interested too. I have read here and elsewhere that they are network compatible. Does anyone know if that applies to LAN as well as Battle.net? We have a wireless network and the MAC and PC can see eachother. I struggled for hours unsuccessfully yesterday to get Diablo1 to work on two PCs on our network, so I am interested in a little preknowledge before I jump in again. Needless to say, if anyone has any tips or experiences on how to do this (or not do this), I would love to hear them.

Thanks GF.

I've run Diablo 2 Mac to PC on a wireless LAN with no problems, although it seemed to need to be hosted on one or the other as I recall. I've run Diablo on Mac LANs, but never tried PC to Mac with that one. Diablo I would need a Mac that can run OS 9 or earlier as well.

Good luck - those are great games to do cooperatively.
Work: MacBook - 2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo - 4GB RAM - X3100 graphics.
Home: iMac - 2.0 Ghz G5 - 1.5 GB RAM - Radeon 9600.

Thanks for the reply. I am still learning about the compatibility -- does diablo1 play at all on OSX? Even with the Blizzard native installer? or does it not play cooperatively on OSX?

Also I have been reading about problems that people have been having with OSX and D2 - something about 256 color support being dropped. A patch was released "Diablo II BETA-for-X3100 (Carbon)" that addresses this issue in single player and possibly for LAN games, but Battle.net is unsupported. Anyone have any experience with this patch and LAN games? A lot of what I read seems to be a number of months old. Maybe these problems have been solved by now.

Diablo won't run on any intel mac - i suppose it could run in a power pc mac through Classic.

The OSX issue is really only an issue for installation, which Blizz took care of with the installer. It will run fine on any Mac except the Macbooks with the integrated X3100 graphics, which is what I have on my MacBook. The beta patch will allow you to play single player quite well, but no BN. It does work for LAN multiplayer Mac to PC however, at least it did for me.
