Despite it not being exactly Fallout in the old sense, I'm pretty hooked on this game (close to 80 hours so far). But I'm going to hit the max level (20) before being done with half of my exploring. I've been dragging my feet on the main quest to avoid triggering the end of the game. I understand that you can't get any more EXP points after you hit level 20, but will the various books and bobbleheads still add to your stats if you find them?

Yes.
The third DLC pack, "Broken Steel" (coming out on May 5th, I believe) will raise the level cap to 30. However, I believe that it'll take forever to get there, since going from level 20 to level 21 requires more experience points than all previous levels combined.

I can tell you this without spoiling anything:
When you see "Quest completed: American Dream" don't progress any further in the main plot than you already have until you're ready to end it.

When there's a multiplayer version, I'm going to be on Frost's team. Well, except he doesn't seem to actually need a team...I mean, what's the point? "Hey look, it's Frost and His Merry Gang of Useless Hangers-On!" Or something.

The cap will be raced in the DLC packs and you can already do it with mods since the game actually supports the level architecture up to level 40 I think and keeps track of the exp for that time but going to 100 in all stats will glitch the game from what I've heard.

Thanks folks. I find the game totally addictive. Have any of you used the already released DLC packs? I get the feeling from some of the Fallout forums that Windows Live can be a pain. Any trouble with the downloads or installation?

Oh shoot, that reminds me. Since you're collecting bobbleheads, pay attention to this, it's REAL important:
While on the aforementioned American Dream quest, you'll visit a particular spot that you can never go back to. This is important to note because somewhere in this particular place is the Energy Weapons bobblehead, and if you don't get it before you progress onward, you will never get another chance to get it without cheating. All the other bobbleheads can be gotten at pretty much any point except for this one; it has to be gotten right then and there. So when you're on that particular quest, make sure you explore everywhere so you get the EW bobblehead, and keep a save at the beginning of it just incase you miss it.

Thanks Frost. I see you're hooked too. The game really sucks you in. I cannot believe the number of unnecessary late nights due to wandering the Wasteland instead of being a responsible adult and going home.

Exactly.
Responsible adults stay inside and play Fallout.
