The first Wolfenstein (RTCW) was ported by ASPYR back in 2002. It is a PPC Code that runs ok with resetta. the windows-version runs much faster witch crossover-games then the ppc-version with rosetta.

a sequel of rtcw is currently under development by RAVEN software. as far as i know a sort of doom3/quake4 engine is used.

has anyone heard about a mac port of that game ?

i expect it, because the first one was ported and the engine makes it possible that we probably get a port.

interview (ps3,xbvox360,pc-win) no mac ?
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=0gbm-CIiwgQ

some in game videos:
http://www.gamersyde...ws_7685_en.html

any chance of getting a native-mac-port, what do YOU think ?

Greetings

It's so great ta see someone jazzed about the new "Wolfenstein" game as I am! lol

Absolutely there'll be a Macintosh port for 2 very important reasons ....

1] John Carmack is on record time & time again as being a huge Macintosh fan.
2] All landmark games -- "BioShock" being the latest example -- get ported to Macintosh.
My guess is the new "Wolfenstein" game will not only be huge, but also in the running for GOTY 2009.

I'm a big fan of Wolfenstein ever since the original First Encounter. RtCW is one of my favorites. I hope Wolfenstein 2 brings across a simular feel as RtCW did, I just love the ambiance.

They never ported Wolfenstein 2, but it should run great in an emulator.

I'm playing RTCW at the moment for the third time. The visuals are a little dated now but it's still a great game.

RTCW is still a great game, a pity that it is no ub, but it runs ok.
i hope that there will be a mac-port for wolfenstein2.

Absolutely -- that's exactly what I mean! lol

The atmosphere of RTCW is just incredible & it, too, is also one of my favorite games.

Raven's doin' the new one so hopes for another gem like RTCW are well founded 'cause they made one of my other favorite games: "Jedi OutCast".

I love them fake German accents and the general cheese factor that this franchise brings with it.

Holy Mother of Jesus ....
I wasn't expecting that! lol
Like in the RTCW trailer: "Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Tell Herr Himmler -- we found him ...."
I get goosebumps everytime I hear that. lol

Y'know, I've always said this but after watching this trailer I simply have to say it again -- Raven is one of the top developers in the world.
Rare somehow always seems to get that credit but what have they done since GoldenEye?
Yes -- Perfect Dark blows.
Like Aliens & Alien 3, I experienced them over & over & over again thinking "Maybe it's me. Maybe I'm missing something ...."
No, I'm not.
They suck.

Raven just seems to turn out classic upon classic but ya never hear 'em mentioned along with the likes of, say, Bethesda or Sid Maier.
Hopefully, Wolfenstein will change all of that.

Perfect Dark was pretty good, not as revolutionary as Goldeneye, but still very good.
Of course, after that the Goldeneye team disappeared off to form Free Radical of Time Splitters fame (and Haze infamy), and are now owned by Crysis. So in terms of shooters, Rare lost all their experienced folk in one go, which is why they havent made any for ages. Not to mention that since MS bought them out, they havent really had a big hit game. Their peak was definitely on the N64, which is what MS based their purchase off. Just a shame they havent had anything since then.

I disagree on the Raven front slightly. They havent really released anything in the last 6 years that had much merit aside from Quake 4, but during the Q3 engine era they did have a bunch of good releases in the course of a few years, Jedi Outcast being the pinnacle for me. But when they come to producing a FPS with a big name, you can guarantee that its going to be a solid entry in the franchise.

Well said, Sir!

This game has "Masterpiece" written all over it.
They even got the ship name right ! [The Tipitz]

Again -- contender for Game Of The Year 2009, guaranteed.

I know it's just a typo, but it's too ironic to pass up. It's Tirpitz. :P

Incidentally, there's a website for Wolfenstein now > Wolfenstein HQ
It's nice!

Odd that Planet Wolfenstein doesn't seem to acknowledge this game at all.

Here's an interesting article from Intel > Wolfenstein & Core i7
Apparently Wolfenstein is being built fresh based on the new Nehalem [Core i7] family -- the successor to the Larrabee [Core2] family.

"Wofenstein" On A 3GHz Core i7

Sure -- we hit the wall graphically as far as incremental advancements go -- they aren't as big now -- but little changes like this still look fantastic !

Speaking of which, since we all use Intel now, it looks like they're making a graphics play.
I think I heard somewhere that they're trying to phaseout GPUs & have the graphics stuff built into the CPU.
They even have their own magazine ! lol
You can download it >"Visual Adenaline" Magazine & subscribe to it, too > "Visual Adrenaline" Subscription.

No.

Or yes...

but possibly no...

uh... maybe...

Look, the game isn't even out yet! Hold onto your horses and Aspyr will probably be looking into it after its release. Activision is a completely different beast to a year ago, so negotiating with them could be fairly tough, and then there'd be a 6-9 month port time, maybe, since this is quite a heavily extended Idtech4 engine in a completely different way to how ET:QW was... And they probably wont even announce it till its a couple months away from release.

The moral of this story is that this is the Mac Porting industry. Why should Wolfenstein be treated any differently to any other game? It will be months before its even announced, so don't get yourself in a tizzy just yet.
