How's the online community - and the maturity of it? Is everyone just spraying and praying or is there some good team tactical play. Is this game crossplatform with Windows? and lastly since its OpenGL native does that mean it'll run better in OS X then it does in windows?
thanks

The ETQW community, like any on-line game community is a mixed bag. You can get into some games with excellent team work but you can also, because of the persistent stats, get into games where people are in it only for adding to their own XP, regardless of whether or not it helps the team they're on. I've been in some excellent games, with balanced teams, where the final outcome was determined in the last 30 seconds. I've also seen both sides of games where the teams are seriously stacked on one side or the other. The stacked game aren't much fun, regardless of which side of the stack you're on. Getting people to balance the teams in those cases can be difficult though I'm not sure why. Of course, I'm mostly talking about the ranked servers here because that's where I usually end up, on a ranked server. The guys I game with seem to prefer them so I go where they are.

I can't answer whether or not it runs better in OS X or not. I do know however, that if you shop around, you can find the Windows version for under $10US. I've seen it as low as $5US. The Mac version is still over $40US.

Coincidentally, I just ordered the Mac version off of Amazon last night, used: like new, for $25. If you decide to buy (seriously, why not?) we should play together.

I'm just having issues with punkbuster for the demo - but punkbuster works fine on Battlefield 2 and COD4/5 for me

…Guys, I think you know what to do.
Liberator.
[No, Liberator isn't insane, he's responding to a deleted post. Or maybe he IS insane and I'm just covering for him. You decide! -- Eric]
[Edit - Now if it was me, I would have deleted The Liberator's post along with the offending post. But perhaps I did and you readers are all insane! - tBC]
[Edit2 - Yes, but you're just mean--he might have spent hours slaving over this post you know!--and anyway it was funnier to leave it. -- Eric]
[Edit 2 - It is meaner to hang him out to dry in front of the whole forum then use his post as a punching bag. Mean and cruel. I like your style - tBC]

QW is my favorite game ever. I don't have time to keep gaming constantly--and iPhone games have been taking up my time--so I keep returning to the game a little rusty
The Mac version was well worth the price to me: I can jump into 20-60 minutes of QW without rebooting, and just leave my Mac stuff open in the background waiting for my return.
(BTW if you like customizing controls, I found ControllerMate to be a great companion to QW.)

There are texture-loading delays the first time you see a new outdoor area, but that only lasts a moment.
