If they pull this off, and throw in some online multiplayer I believe it would be an instant and lasting hit.

Well, if there's ever a dev who makes games to push the current hardware to the limit, its id. I've played Doom one too many times over the years but I certainly welcome it to the iPhone, Quake 3 would be amazing. Downside is 3G is far too high pinged for gaming so you'd be stuck playing on Wifi. Ironically ram and CPU wise, the iPhone isn't far from what Quake 3 was designed to run on. Having id, EA and Bestheda all working on iPhone titles is a very good thing.
Sad that Apple's first real success in gaming is with a phone. It'd be no surprise if I learned that the App store in game sales generated more revenue on games than the entire Mac platform has for the past 6 six years at this point.

I'm sure if Apple gave a rat's ass that we even existed that would've been rectified long ago. Alas they don't. Much as I like Steve, his neutrality to hostility towards games has been really lame over the years. It's one thing I hope will change as Apple changes hands.

When there's a multiplayer version, I'm going to be on Frost's team. Well, except he doesn't seem to actually need a team...I mean, what's the point? "Hey look, it's Frost and His Merry Gang of Useless Hangers-On!" Or something.

It's too tiny. How can one hope to control such a tiny fast moving image that is a run and gun twitch fest FPS with a finger? It sounds frustratingly impossible to control as it is to see. "Who the fire truck is shooting me?!?!"

on the iPhone? I dunno, I played Unreal at 640 x 480 or details lowered a bit 800 x 600 with a Voodoo II card waaaay back when, the iPhone's screen displays almost that.
That's resolution. Not the size of the image in your field of view. They're different. One being too low leaves you aiming at a colored square. The other leaves you trying to cover the approaches to a building through a dormer window from ten paces.
