This might not go over to well with certain members of the sight but I would like to see a Console/Handheld gaming section that would include everything in the PS3, 360, Wii, older-gen consoles, PSP, and DS categories. The off topic sub forum is buzzing with console topics. And I know that I at least have been guilty of posting about console games in the windows gaming section simply to get more traffic on the topic.

This should at least not be viewed as being as bad a heresy as gaming on Windows :o

Thoughts anyone?

Absolutely not. Consoles have not much to do with Mac Gaming (using bootcamp or not).

I don't think there are so many console topics in Off-Topic that they'd need their own category anyway, even if Frigidman hadn't issued the smackdown. ;)

We have our fine little PS3 thread (where the 360 people go as well), and then the DS Fanbois thread. That and the people who talk about console versions of Bootcamp Games. Isn't that good enough?

Well the PS3 thread is at 18 pages with 340 posts, the DS thread is at 7 pages with 140 posts, and finally a Console multimedia thread at 6 pages with 105 posts. On page 2 there's a 40 post discussion on LBP, a PS3 exclusive. The PS3 thread I expect is a bit unwieldy for those that haven't followed it from the beginning, In a way it is the PS3 subforum, all wrapped up in one thread

Now I understand that that isn't enough to warrant a new subforum devoted to solely consoles, but I would like to see a another subforum labelled "Other Gaming" or something. Where every kind of gaming not done in bootcamp or OS X can be discussed. Perhaps some thoughts for the future.

Storing thoughts for the future in text format on a planet wide network is specifically forbidden by the Interplanetary Time Treaty of 8707. I know it's a little bit early, but I want to show them our good intentions.

You know, more and more I'm convinced that having the web as a buffer between you and me is a good thing. A very good thing. :nods:

well yes and no. As in unweildy, yes, but not to the detriment of people jumping in there, I dont feel. Not to the extent of the M4 thread which had about 7 different time lines, 3 of which were parallel, 2 different developers, and tBC p*ss*ng out from the inside (and into one of the other timelines).

It would be nice if we could maybe have the title changed to "the PS3 thread" with a subtitle of "come here for all your PS3 speaking needs" or something, and maybe have a rough contents included in the first post. But then the "what are you listening to now" and "movies, good and bad" threads just keep on rolling too, with people dropping in and giving their opinions on something. So really the PS3 thread just rolls with the times and what were (admittedly mainly me, frost and AMG with admirable contributions from others) playing/looking forward to in the immediate future with a hint of arranging the odd online meeting between myself and Frost.

so is it really worth indulging in a whole new forum for around 5 people + randoms?
the iPhone/iTouch forum is sensible because its a)OSX, b)apple and c)theres such a huge amount of content on the iTS that its difficult to filter through the junk so its useful to everyone with an itouch/phone.
Polytetrafluoroethylene to my friends.

Macbook Pro - C2D 2.4Ghz / 4Gb RAM / WD Scorpio Black 320GB ( 255GB OSX v 42GB XP ) / Geforce 8600M GT 256Mb / 15.4"
Cube - G4 1.7Ghz 7448 / 1.5Gb RAM / Samsung Spinpoint 250GB / Geforce 6200 256Mb

We won! Apple offer the 17" with a matte screen! Well... at a price...

No, I suppose it isn't really that practical for a whole new sub forum.

However the Windows Gaming thread could be modified to allow consoles perhaps, just another thought.
