If you haven't heard The Sims 3 release date has been delayed from February 20th to June 4th. But there's an interesting tidbit. The press release officially names a Mac version and there's a link that leads to the box art. On the box it clearly says "PC/Mac DVD" which obviously strongly suggests simultaneous release.
While that is great and all it also strongly suggests Cider and no Aspyr. Aspyr previously did the other Sims games for the Mac. Interesting.

Also, expect the same SecuROM DRM protection that plagued Spore.

Check the link. Apparently it won't use "invasive DRM." Much improved!

But ciderized doesn't mean that it's going to run perfectly on a Mac, right?
I don't really know much about ports, but I read that Spore wasn't too awesome on the Mac...

Yeah, I expect the game to run on the minimally capable Macs (everything with just a ATi x1600) to run like ass – on the lowest possible settings.

Well, funny because the system requirements say even lower (although that is for Windows).

Sure. Cider (and the generally lower performance of Apple's OpenGL) steal quite a bit of the performance. Here are the Mac minimum requirements, by the way.
