I'm surprised there's been no mention of B&W2, I've been playing it for over a week now.
Must say it plays great on an 3.06 iMac full rez/detail.
The combat/war element is good, it makes the game a blend of B&W 1 with Warrior Kings with updated graphics.
At least your creature is a lot smarter.

I liked B&W2 a lot more than the first too. Its just a shame B&W2 is much shorter with less side quests. However the building is far superior, the creature learning is much better done, and the overall speed and graphics are nicer. Not as many miracles, but you don't need a ton from the basics.

I really like Black and White 2. I played a new game on a friend's install of the original Black and White, and it quickly turned me off. B&W2 felt more engaging / achievable to me... but that may owe to the fact that I'm not a hardcare RTS gamer.

Also, I didn't even know it was out. It's been coming for a while, but www.apple.com/games/articles lists it as "new" so it's a recent release. Must've been stealth released. :)

It's out a couple of weeks, shortly after the Macworld. Somehow, the actual release went pretty unnoticed.

I was expecting it to be released right around Macworld, but haven't visited Feral's site lately. I'm still waiting for the demo. I'm very much interested, but I need to know how well it runs on my Macbook before I commit to a purchase.

We don't support GMA cards but you might get lucky on a X3100 you will get crazy graphics on a GMA 950.

The new MacBooks will run smooth as ice :)

Demo should be coming soon enough.

Nice to hear, since I do own one of the new ones. :) I've had very pleasant experiences with Tomb Raider Anniversary and Pirates!. I'm also looking forward to Rome: Total War. You guys just know how to empty my wallet. ;)

Where'd you pick this game up? Amazon still doesn't have it - though for some reason Feral games always take a long time to get in stock at Amazon.

You can get it straight from Feral's web store, including free shipping. I'm amazed they still have that offer going, especially considering overseas orders.

Feral now have all our demos (well most of the newer UA ones) on a new download server powered by bit torrent.

http://downloads.feralinteractive.com/

Official announcement is tomorrow morning but we have already noticed people who have found the site and are downloading!

Note the BW2 Demo and the Colin Online Demo are new. We should have a new ToCA demo coming online shortly as well.

Cheers,

Edwin

I grabbed the Black & White 2 demo – runs pretty well on my MacBook Pro.

But could it be that there is a (minor) glitch when using widescreen resolutions? I noticed that when hovering the mouse above the toolbar, buttons are highlighted that are slightly beside the pointer, dependent on the position on the screen. For instance, when the mouse pointer is on the right hand side of the screen, the button slightly to the right of the pointer is highlighted. When the pointer is on the left, it's the button slightly to the left.

Minor glitch in a Feral title? Never! :P

Cheers!

Being serious.. if you email support we can have someone have a look at it.

What the hell...? I can't reproduce it. The second time I opened the demo, everything was fine.

I haven't seen a glitch at all in the demo. :P

I really like that the creature is so much more useful in the sequel now that there is more direct control. In the original B&W it just felt more like work than fun dealing with your beasties, hence I never bothered actually completing that game. Overall, B&W2 seems to be a huge improvement over the first and much more enjoyable because of it. Not to mention, it runs great on the GeForce 9400M. :)

Ha! I'm not hallucinating! The glitch turned up again. I guess it has some connection to the tutorial mode since it only appears to happen when some button or the other is marked by this glittering effect. If I could I would post a screenshot, but it seems I can't take one – the resulting pictures are just black.

Have you tried Cmd + Shift + P? Some (all?) Feral games have an alternate screenshot mode.

No, that's new to me. I'll try that next time.

If the game has an options front panel then it has screenshot mode, I think this covers games back to F1 Championship Season. So not all games but if it was published in the last 4 or 5 years you should be fine. :)

I think this was added around the time of early OS X (10.1 era) as the screenshot feature was dodgy and often you got black screenshots or ones with massive tearing in it. I think XIII was the first title with full support for our built in screenshot but games and dates tend to merge together after a few years so I could be wrong :)
