A fantastic open source game Armagetron's Fortress game mode is a sport

This multiplayer game is completely free and has a vibrant online community. I'm not recommending it because of money or advertising, it's just a fantastic game that I love to play.

It's a really great game that I play. I thought I'd share it with you. The game type I play is called fortress, and it can be quite hard to pick up. However, fortress players have created a couple good resources to learn. I love this game because of the community and the gameplay, which is as pure as chess, with the sport of football/soccer. We have regular fortress tournaments which at the moment are 8 team events, but we are trying to expand to 16 teams and then to 32. Maybe if a bunch of you get playing you could organize your own team to compete. . .

The game is not really my project at all. I play the game, but it's been developed by a team of developers since the early 2000s, I just came along as a player in 2007.
