MobileMe Sync can bite my pearly white...

I have absolutely no inclination to ever use that another-name-for-a-chicken-sucking service, and the stupid icon looks too much like my Time Machine icon, and I am sick of running across it all the time up there! I have dug through the prefs for it and cannot find any checkbox to 'show in menubar'. I mean, everything else appears to have an option for that, so why not MangleMe?
Hrm.

Apparently there IS a checkbox option to show it in the menubar, but you have to either sign up for the junk, or have an account already! Bah, jerkoffs.
Anyhow, its gone for now, hope it remembers that and stays that way.

After all those mean things you just said about it? Not likely. Now it has it out for you, waiting, biding its time. Oh you'll think it's gone, yep, and just when you get that smug look back on your face ... BAM!

No. From my inside source at Apple I'm told there's at least two other people signed up*. But that does make you 33% of the market, yes.
* One of these is still in his/her trial period though.

ROFL!

It was part of iSync? Hm. I figured it was mobileme cause all the menu had in it was 'enable mobileme' option. Oh well, its gone now.

Not to sound nasty or anything, but if you have it then find some uses for it. Otherwise you're wasting money, not good
I love my MM acc, got lots of family pics and movies for us all here. Plus my two sites and a gallery amongst other uses. I like it, though i do wish it was a little cheaper!

At least with a phone you get the opportunity to port over your phone number, so that you dont have to send out a mass text message... But with email addresses, you have to either send out a mass email address, OR hope that you can keep that email address usable (ie, not paid for and/or not prone to closing without constant use) and forward all the incoming mail...
so once youre latched into .mac or whatever else (emails tied to your ISP are worse) youre pretty much stuck. Of course, you do get a few hosts, like Gmail, that are very accommodating to forwarding mail etc. etc.
Macbook Pro - C2D 2.4Ghz / 4Gb RAM / WD Scorpio Black 320GB ( 255GB OSX v 42GB XP ) / Geforce 8600M GT 256Mb / 15.4"
Cube - G4 1.7Ghz 7448 / 1.5Gb RAM / Samsung Spinpoint 250GB / Geforce 6200 256Mb
We won! Apple offer the 17" with a matte screen! Well... at a price...

Well I do use some of it... The calendar/bookmark/address book sync is awesome. My upload speeds are so bad that using the iDisk for any type of big file is not really a sane thing to do. That and I'm not comfortable putting myself on the interwebz.
Yeah the email thing is pretty bad. One time I let my .mac sub expire and they instantly stopped my access to my inbox

The trouble with being a massive nerd is that there's almost always a better alternative I can hack together from OSS (though the syncing is good enough that it's just not worth my time to try and simulate it).
As for e-mail, domain names ftw. I can change e-mail provider in a heartbeat without losing a single e-mail, though if I want to change my domain provider it gets a bit uglier..
I'm actually TOO good at both TMFPPG and Fable:TLC.
I sleep in a BBEdit T-shirt, but I'm a TextMate user.
