Patch 1.03 makes Spore run like a slideshow on my imac.

2.16 Core 2 Duo
128 MB X1600
3GB RAM
Game was running smooth on low settings with 512MB Graphics Cache, after 1.03 patch it is running like a slideshow. Has anyone else noticed decreased performance after Patch 3? I'm tempted to reinstall but Patch 1 crashed midpatch and hosed Spore causing me to have to reinstall once already. The game is fun but EA's rollout of it has been abysmal.
EA needs to address this ASAP.
