I am trying to run Mass effect !?!?

I have a bootcamped macbook pro

I am running XP sp2
intel core2 cpu T7600 @ 2.33GHz
1.98gb ram

When I start the game the screen stays black with an hour glass. Then my computer shuts down and restarts. I then get the error report message (send/don't send).

What can I do?

As evident by the above information I know very little about computers. If there is other information that is needed please let me know where I can look it up and I will post it promptly.

Any help in getting this game running will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like Mass Effect...

The game shipped with some SERIOUS bugs in it. You will need to get online and download the latest updates. I think either EA has them, or BioWare... but its not easy finding it. I think the game itself has an updater you can run that looks, but you must have registered the game, because of its stupid DRM BS.

If you're still using the horrible drivers that Apple included with Boot Camp, then you need to update them (whether that's the root of the problem that you're facing is yet to been seen, however). There are a variety of different sources, but I pretty unfamiliar with them since the last ATI-equipped Mac that I owned was an ancient PowerBook G4. However, I did find this:

http://ati.amd.com/s...ootcamp-xp.html

Also, when you get the game running, expect horrible performance. That X1600 in your Mac probably can't top 1800 3DMark06 points, whereas I've been able to get over 4000 from the 8600M GT in my Mac, and my machine barely eeked out Mass Effect @ 1440x900.
