this happened before weeks ago. i looked on my normal finder window on my desktop, and below my laptop which was connected using file sharing, there was another computer, something like cp 335 or something. Is there a log on my computer that i can look at to see what / who that was?
weirdly at the same time i couldnt touch any of the options in sharing in preferences so i restarted, pulled out my router and it dissappeared..

make sure that this time you set it up, you save the settings in a profile, and then you can get the old settings back quickly.
which model of airport is it?

Hm, I had 'file sharing' toggled, using an unsecured wireless router, for my computers. About a week ago, I noticed my neighbor's computer name listed. I went into my firewall and turned off 'file sharing,' and their name disappeared. I don't suspect them of any wrong doing, as they're an elderly couple.
Hmm.

Its the old ones you have to watch most.
I mean, just look at tBC, given half a chance, hed steal your internet connection, copy all your important files, buy himself a new plasma TV on your credit card and wee in the corner of one of your rooms before you come home to find him coughing up a hairball in the middle of your lounge.... But maybe hes just an isolated case.
Im sure other elderly persons wouldnt get caught...
So yeah, the lessons we learnt here? put a password on your network, if you want, enable MAC address filtering, and turn off file sharing if its not being used.

I spend 20 years locked up in solitary confinement and somehow everybody remembers me for that after all these years. I've made such progress, I've come so far and then to hear something like this. It's discouraging!
oh... and here's your wallet back. sorry.
