StarCraft Broodwar has just been updated to 1.16.0

Quote

Feature Changes

- In-game chat is now saved in replays. Note: whispers are not saved.
- Hitting the Escape key while in the chat room will clear your typed text.
- "/reply" (or just "/r") will send a whisper to person who most recently whispered you.

Bug Fixes

- Fixed localization issues with "from" and "to" in whispers.
- Starcraft now only uses as much CPU as it needs to run smoothly.

Exploits

- Fixed an exploit which allowed Zerg players to gain minerals through mutations.
- Fixed an exploit which allowed Zerg players to recycle an upgrading building.
- Fixed an exploit which allowed Zerg players to extend their creep with a drone.
- Fixed an exploit which allowed Zerg players to move Drones over impassable terrain.
- Fixed an exploit which allowed Terran players to drop a nuke anywhere on the map.
- Fixed an exploit which allowed players to pause the game while in the pre-game lobby.

It's not on the homepage yet, but you can download the patch by accessing Battle.net. The reduced CPU-usage feature sounds awesome, I'm sometimes playing on battery and I guess this saves some charge live :)

EDIT: Out of curiosity I just fired it up after installing the update and ran it in a window while having activity monitor open. The reduced CPU-usage feature is currently PC-only I guess… :(

Keep in mind that on Intel Macs StarCraft has to run through Rosetta. That alone is pretty CPU intensive.

Thanks, I forgot about that totally. I wish a Universal Binary of Broodwar would happen, but I don't think Blizzard will ever do that.

Neither do I: Starcraft just runs too well under Rosetta and moving the whole code to XCode (required for UBs) is just too much work to make it worthwhile.

Maybe they can work that into the Mac version of Starcraft 2. :)
Work: MacBook - 2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo - 4GB RAM - X3100 graphics.
Home: iMac - 2.0 Ghz G5 - 1.5 GB RAM - Radeon 9600.

Im pretty sure we'll see a mod for Starcraft 2, depicting all the Starcraft 1 campaigns. Its gonna be awesome! :)

The only problem I run into with Starcraft on the Mac is with the Protoss missions. The mouse cursor gets a little laggy with the Protoss. Otherwise it runs fine.
